ANGEL OF MINE(Part 3) BY:JLaLa Walking down the stairs Serena's silvery white heels clicked against the marble steps and the group below looked in awe and enchantment at the sight before them.There walked their friend Serena but they still couldn't believe it.Her bangs had been trimmed and her long hair cut to below her butt. Her blond curled tips swayed as she moved and her striking blue eyes looked at them shyly.Her curvy body was emphasized by the gown she wore and the fabric dragged on the stairs giving her an elegant look at she made her way down.Serena's slim arms were showing and her creamy back revealed.Not to mention the fact that Serena's chest looked awfully matured for her age!The thought made her blush beautifully spreading a rose color to her cheeks. Her lashes were curled making her eyes wide and innocent but her long legs and tight butt gave her a look to make any man desire her. This however didn't matter for she wished for only one man to even take a glance which was Darien.He was taking more than a few glances!His heart seemed to stop and his throat was dry.*Sweet Mother of Mercy!*,he thought.She looked at them as her small hand held the side of the stairs showing her french manicured nails.Taking in a breath he prepared to move but it seemed his feet weren't cooperating! "Hey that's not Serena!",yelled Neflyte.Walking up the stairs to try to peer into the room to make sure it was no joke."Where the hell is Serena?" "How would you like me to punch in the stomach to prove it?",retorted Serena."Remember I beat your ass too when I was six!" "I was just kidding Serena",he said and hugged Serena.Kissing her on the cheek he took at look at her."You're beautiful!" "Yeah and it took hours to achieve",she said smiling.Her heart shaped lips had a pinkish tint to it and they curved when she smiled revealing her pearly teeth. "Serena you're the queen of grand entrances",complimented Mina."Talk about dramatic" "Actually I walked out of fear that Raye would actually yank down the stairs!",she told them. "Serena I can't believe it's you!",Raye said."You can thank me later" "Actually we all have go now we'll be late",Ami said. "Yeah let's hit it!",Lita exclaimed. Serena and Darien were looking at each other as Serena stood at the last step of the stairs.Walking up to her he smiled and held out his hand to her.She took it and prepared to step down when she suddenly tripped. Darien grabbed her before she fell and she blushed insanely. "You look great Serena",He said still holding her. "Thanks",she managed to croak out. "Shall we?",he asked and held his arm out. "Let's",she agreed taking it. "Now that's the Serena we know",Zoicite said. Before going into the ballroom Jedite nudged Darien. "Smooth move Romeo",he complimented. *************************************** A grand staircase led to a ballroom and as they prepared to enter, a trumpet sounded their entrance and the guests looked up at the stairway.Each guard had a princess on his shoulder as they walked down.The crowd looked in admiration at the beauty of the princesses. But as the Prince made his entrance they gasped at the girl beside him.She was without a doubt the belle of the ball and not to mention the Prince was linking arms with her!They made a grand couple,the young woman with her golden tresses and sky blue eyes and the Prince in a tuxedo that matched his coal black hair that went with his dark blue eyes.Queen Gaia looked from her throne to see the two.Her son had turned out to be a great looking man but who was the girl with him? She seemed familiar and the name was on the tip of her tongue.It hit her like a flash of lightning.Serena!Her little surrogate daughter was a raving beauty and there she was right before our eyes.Ilene was serving champagne when she saw the girl coming down and tried hard not to faint as she realized it was her daughter!Ken,her husband joined at the wall she leaned against. "Could it be?",he asked in astonishment and she nodded. "It's Serena",she whisper watching as the young girl walked up to the queen in the arm of the Prince.Bowing before her the queen looked into her eyes and saw the happiness of the young one.*Thank you*,Serena thought to the queen and it seemed the queen heard her. *************************************** "So how's it feel?",asked Darien as he stood by Serena. "What do you mean?",Serena responded."Do you mean being beautiful or being the only commoner at this ball?" Looking up at him she smiled and took his hand."Thank you.I remember I used to watch these balls from the kitchen and I wished so hard that I get to go to one.Now here I am". "You deserve it",he responded squeezing her hand."I've never seen you so beautiful" "Doesn't matter",she said and her eyes turned serious."As soon as this over the makeup will come off and the dress will be gone.Then I'll be same old plain Serena" "You were never plain",Darien told her trying not to sound like an idiot."You just weren't concerned about how you looked or anything" "Figures",she muttered. "What?" "You don't know jack about me",she said and turned her eyes to the people dancing. "Dance with me",he said and her eyes went wide. "No...Way...I..can possibly",she stuttered and he grabbed her hands pulling her to the floor."Please don't make me do this!" A look of panic swept her face as he put his hand to her waist.Darien took her arms and wrapped one around his neck and he took other hand in his own."Don't...Please...." "It just me don't worry",he reassured which did not help at all. *I'm trying not to look stupid!*,she thought to herself. "Come On",he said."One..two..step...One...two...step to the right" Serena started to move and gracefully at that!People watched them smiling with approval specualting that the girl was a princess from some other galaxy.A woman with red hair and dark eyes watched the two in jealousy and rage.The music ended and she approached the two. "Hello your majesty",she said and bowed checking him out as did. "You're looking well" "Thank you Lady Beryl",he said graciously though he looked irratated. "May I introduce my friend Serena".Beryl gazed at the girl with a cool, apprasing look then turned around to look at Darien. "If you'll excuse I'll be talking to Raye",Serena said and left before Darien made her stay.Joining Raye they looked at all the people dancing and their eyes finally traveled to Beryl draping herself all over the Prince. "Who is that all over my cousin?!",Raye said and crossed her arms. "Oh no she isn't trying...!" Her voice trail off in anger.Beryl suddenly left in a huff."Okay Serena go ahead.He's all yours!" Serena started to walk over when Lady Beryl appeared with a glass in her hand in front of her.Her eyes seethed with anger and before Serena could get out of her way,Beryl purposely pour her drink on Serena,right down her dress.The cool liquid feeling didn't defrost the anger building in Serena and the wine had stained the front of her dress. "I know all about you",she said giving her a look."You're just some little girl trying to play princess.Well listen here.You'll never part of the crowd and you'll never be royalty.I suggest you leave so I can get you out of the way.Darien doesn't need a little twit hanging all over him" They stood face to face though Beryl was a few inches taller than Serena,their eyes locked in battle."You gonna cry?" Serena was willing herself not to. "Thank you for reminding why I avoid people like you",Serena said angrily through her teeth.With that she ran out of the room much to the astonishment of everyone. ****************************** "Serena!",yelled Darien chasing Serena to the gardens and through the woods.For a girl in a dress she could run fast,not to mention the fact that the girl had heels on!Panting he keep on running until he felt his chest would burst.As they reached the lake Serena seemed to stumble and fall into the muddy shore,staining her white dress.As she sat there her arms holding her up she didn't notice Darien standing above.A thick silence fell between them and he too sat on the ground messing up his tux."Why did you run out like that?You shouldn't have given her the benefit of the doubt seeing you leave like that" Serena had not looked up from the ground and her breathing was still hard.The lake shimmered in moonlight and the waves hit the shore. "I promised myself...",she said trembling and trailed off.He put his hand over hers. "You promised yourself what?",he asked and touched her hair. "I promised myself I wouldn't let anyone see me cry",she said and looked up at him with tear stained cheeks.Her eyes were dry though and the look in them was firm."Letting them see me suffer would have be worse" "You believe keeping it in will work",he said to her.Before he could be answered she stood up and began walking back.She sighed heavily. "Just bring me home,Darien",she said in quiet but sad voice.He decided it wasn't the time to argue.Walking next to her he put his jacket on her bare shoulders and in silence they made their to the castle. ********************************** "So what happened to her?",asked Ami.The group minus Serena who was in her room,were all assembled in one of the rooms of the palace. "I tell you what happened",raged Raye pacing back and forth."That Beryl walked up to her and poured her drink down Serena's dress" "Not to mention that she said some pretty mean things to Serena",Lita fumed and punched her fist into other hand. "Now calmed down",Zoicite said and they all agreed sitting on the floor. "Why would someone do that to her?" All eyes looked at Darien who was looking out the window at the crescent moon,deep in thought. "Darien",called Malachite and he turned around abrubtly looking at all the pair of eyes on him."What did she asked?" "Who?Beryl?",he asked in confusion."Oh well she just wanted to dance and when I said no,she asked why.I said I wasn't in the mood and she left" "I get it",Jedite said."She was jealous of Serena and the only way to get revenge was to something stupid like that" "Why would she be jealous of Serena?",he asked in confusion and was answered with eight exasperated faces looking at him."What?!" "Hello!",shouted Raye.Going up to him she began knocking on his forehead."Anyone there?Is it obvious to us only that you're in love with Serena?I would have thought you had came to that idea already! Geez!".Darien had not heard the rest,he only heard the word in love and Serena...could he be? He had to find out. ********************************** Serena couldn't sleep.Getting up from her small bed she walked to the window.The moon shone over the Royal Gardens and something made her compelled to go outside.It was like she was hypnotize.In only her white nightgown she walked outside.The night was warm and it was silent.The inactivty of her surroundings made her wary but she sat on a bench and laid down.She touched the blades of grass suddenly feeling tired.Serena closed her eyes and was soon passed out. ```````````````````````````````````````````````` "Serena",a voice called to her.It was a woman whose voice was filled with sadness.Serena looked around and was surrounded by shambles of fallen buildings.*Where am I?* The voice called to her."I will help you" "Help me what?",she asked into the fallen city. "Help you find yourself",the voice answered,it sounded light like the wind."You have felt alone,haven't you?" "Yes",she simply reply. "I am here to help.You are more than you think you are.You play an imporatant part to the world" "How can that be?",she yelled."I'm just Serena,little maid girl" "No you are not",the voice said firmly."Look for your necklace" "Huh?" "Just look for it,Serena",it said."You'll see what happens" "You're going to wake up soon but you must remember this,it is imporatant to your life" "Wait",she yelled but fog began to spread around her eyes blinding her sight."Please!I need to know more!" ```````````````````````````````````````````````````` "Please...I need to know more....please",Serena mumbled in her sleep."Please....PLEASE!" She was quickly jolted out of her dream by someone shaking her. "Serena wake up",Darien said and shook her.She was violently shaking and covering her face."Wake up!" Her eyes were squeezed and something that sounded like sobbing came from her throat and he held her close.Her sweet scent filled his nostrils and captivated him.Serena's hair was down but some was matted with sweat and so was her body making her nightgown cling to her. "I'm alright",she said in a shaken voice though he didn't believe her. Her eyes went to the moon and a sense of comfort swept through her. Serena breathing calmed and realized Darien was there looking at her panicked and concerned.Forcing a weak smiled she wiped her sweaty hands on her nightgown."Do you always follow girls into gardens?" "Well the ones that have nightmares in them",he said laughing softly and sat next to her.Turning to her he realized they were face to face. "Why did you come here?",she asked in hushed voice for their lips were inches apart. "I don't know",he said huskily."To see if you alright...to get air... to find something out" "What?",whispered Serena and looked up at him.You could read it in their eyes.They saw each other's desire and realized they had always known that they loved each other more than they showed.Their lips met in a soft kiss,so soft it was like kissing a delicate crystal.They parted and Darien looked at Serena's face.He couldn't believed how her eyes shined so brightly in the darkness.Darien kissed her again but with more force and passion.His tongue went into her mouth and she felt a shock go through her.*Whoa*,she thought.The night seem to tremble just as Serena did in her love's kisses."What did you find out?",Serena asked as they parted and Darien had cupped her chin in his hand. "I found something that means more to me than anything on this earth", he told her and she smiled at him almost in tears.She bowed her head and then looked at him.Serena's tears were apparent now as they fell from her blue eyes. "What do you love?",she asked."I'm not beautiful,Darien.What you saw tonight was makeup and a pretty dress.The curls and the shine in my hair is gone.It was an illusion.If you love the illusion than please leave me alone" "What I Love is the girl who beat me up",he said and she laughed. "The girl who knocked sense into whenever I was losing it,the girl who ran barefoot into my arms when I came home".He traced her face with his finger and touched her lips."The girl who came down the stairs was beautiful but what I love is the girl in front of my eyes with no makeup and her hair straight.To me she's three times more beautiful than the girl with makeup and curls.It's what's in here".
