Chapter Three

Serena was walking down the street.
Thoughts flew fast through her head. Tears
welled up in her eyes. She turned down a
nearby alley, sank to the ground and cried.
She remembered the events that took place at
Raye's temple only a few minutes before.

"We have to do something about Hanol!"

"Yes, we have to protect Serena."

"But Hanol will be looking for her."

"She can't fight, she's too vulnerable."

"What should we do?" All the scouts and
Darien were at Rayes after the battle. Serena
didn't say a word. They acted as if she was a
baby. They were risking too much for her.

"You guys?" she said, but they were all in
deep in conversation and didn't hear her.

"Hanol's powerful."

"Right so we have to be by her side 24/7."

"We will protect her no matter what."

"Until we die."

"We have to risk everything."

"STOP IT! JUST STOP IT!" Serena screamed.
They all turned to look at her. Tears formed
in her eyes. "I don't want you all in any
danger because of me! I don't care what she
does to me, I can't have you guys dying for
me like this!" Tears fell rapidly from her eyes.
Her hands were clenched in fear and anger.

"Serena, we would risk our lives for you any
day."

"No matter what it takes we will protect you."

"It's our job. You're our princess."

"We do it everyday, Serena."

"You mean so much to us all. That is why we
do this." Serena looked at them all. She
realized everything that they were saying.

"I'm... I'm sorry, everyone. I need to get some
fresh air. I'll be back."

"Serena..."

"No. Let me go. I'll be fine, don't worry." She
got up and started to leave.

"Be careful." She stopped and turned around.

"I will."

Tears were flowing fast down her face.
She could never put her friends in any
danger. She would have to go against Hanol
alone. She would grab Hanol's amulet and
smash it. Then the "hearts" would be given
back. Hanol would be pissed but Serena
didn't care what she would do to her. Serena
stood up and wiped the tears from her eyes.
She would go to the park. That was where
Hanol always attacked. She walked to there,
determine to fight without her friends. She
knew she would probably die, Rini wouldn't
be born, and the world would go to chaos,
but something made her do this. And she
would.

Everyone at the temple was still taking
about what to do about Hanol. The phone
rang and Raye went to go pick it up.

"Hello, Cherry Hill Temple, Raye speaking,
how may I help you?"

"Oh hi Raye! This is Irene, Serena's mother?"
Raye smiled.

"Hi Mrs. Tsukino."

"Hi, Raye, is Serena there?" Rayes smile
turned to a worried frown.

"No, she isn't. She left about a half an hour
ago."

"Oh, well, if you see her, tell her to come
home, okay?"

"I will, Mrs. Tsukino, good-bye."

"Good-bye, Raye." Raye put the phone down.

"What is it?" Asked Darien.

"Serena's not home and her mother is looking
for her." Amy thought for a moment,
groaned, and smacked her forehead.

"What is it, Ames?" asked Mina. Amy sighed.

"Remember how Serena said she didn't want
us risking our lives for her?" They all
nodded.
"Well..."

"Oh my god!" said Lita. "She went after
Hanol alone! We have to go find her!" Darien
looked at Lita.
"How do you know?" he asked. They all
stopped.

"Because I know Serena. This is something
she would do. Always protecting others. We
all know that. You should too." Darien
looked down. She was hinting at something
and he understood it. She was right. He
didn't really know Serena. They all got up
and left. Amy checked on her Mini-computer
and tracked Serena. She was at the park. They
all headed over there, ready for a fight of
their lives.
