Finally, Serena thought, summer vacation. No 9th grade teachers to
deal with and hopefully, NO Darien to deal with. Ewwwwww!! It was the
pits last summer around Darien. Everywhere I would go, he would be
there! They would run into each other at the arcade and he kept calling
her the name she most hated: Meatball Head. She hated it. But she and
Darien had known each other for about 3 years. Every time he saw her, he
always called her that.
Serena sat in the park by the lake and leaned against a big rock.
She sighed and closed her eyes. When she closed her eyes, however, she
imagined that she saw a pair of dark blue eyes and midnight black hair.
He was wearing a light blue polo shirt and black jeans. Recognizing who
it was, she quickly snatched her eyes back open. Darien? she said to
herself. Why am I thinking about him when it's my summer vacation?!? She
groaned and closed her eyes again, but the image shot back into her mind
again. She tried for a third time, but found that it was impossible, and
finally gave up on trying to clear the image.
Sighing, she sat up and rubbed her head with one hand while she
kicked off her tennis shoes, revealing pink toe-nail colored toes. She
turned so that she was laying on her stomache, her head resting on the
backs of her hands, and facing towards the lake. She laid her head down
and dozed off, only to find herself dreaming of Darien...

Darien strolled down the park pathway, his hands shoved in his
jeans' pockets, enjoying the evening air. He cut through the grass and
sat down on the grass, completely unaware that Serena was on the other
side of the lake directly across from him. He leaned against a tree
stump and sighed with contentment.
As he closed his eyes, he imagined a pair of very long blonde
meatball like pony-tails, that came down to a very attractive girls'
knees and a pair of light blue eyes, full of love and joy. She was
wearing a pink, body hugging shirt, matching mini skirt with ruffles on
the edges. Finally realizing who it was that He was dreaming about, he
opened his eyes in shock, amazement, are called that last time they had
spoken to each other... she was yelling at him again for calling her
meatball head, and he was had found himself wanting to kiss her.
Surprised at himself, he had just walked away from a flushed Serena as
quickly as possible, before things got 'out of hand'
He shook the thought from his head and sighed, leaning back
against the tree stump again. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep, and
when he finally did, all he could think about was Serena...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
On the other side, Serena smiled as she dreamt of Darien and her
in a row boat on a cool summer day... like today...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
On Darien's side, he dreamt that Serena and him were out in a row
boat on a cool evening... like today. He rowed them out into the middle
of the lake and smiled as he watched Serena's eyes light up with joy and
love.
The sun was setting, creating a spectacular sun set. Darien looked
at Serena and smiled, the laughter dying out as they looked at each
other. Before either of them knew what was happening, they were sitting
next to one another, Serena leaning against Darien, and he with an arm
wrapped protectively around her small, curvaceous waist, his head
resting against hers.
He looked down at her just as she looked up at him. He looked into
her eyes and wished this moment would never end. He put one finger under
her chin and grazed his thumb across her cheek lightly and drew her lips
to his.
Serena slipped her arms around his neck and entwined her fingers
in his hair at his nape. She was a mass of sensations and it seemed she
couldn't get enough of him, that she was apart of him. She felt like she
was drifting...
Darien didn't know what hit him as his lips touched hers. It felt
like a lightening bolt had struck him and that he couldn't get enough of
her. He felt her playing with the hair at his nape, and making small
sounds coming from her throat. He pressed her closer and finally broke
the kiss...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Darien and Serena both woke up startled. They both, at the same
time, looked across the lake, starring wide-eyed at each other.
Serena didn't know what to think as she stared at Darien. Had he
had the same dream as her? No way! she screamed at herself... but why
would we look at each other at the same time?
Darien sat rigid, speechless, and shocked. He wondered if she had
had the same dream. Not a chance! he said to himeself...but he
unconsciously wondered if she would ever consider going on a boat ride
with him... He still couldn't understand why he had such a romantic and
happy dream with Serena, though, he smiled to himself.
Serena turned her head aside to see if she could clear her mind,
but when she looked up, he was gone. She looked around her frantically
and got up, walking along the park pathway. She was too busy pondering
the dream that she bumped into someone. She was about to apologize, but
when she looked up, she found herself staring into intense dark blue
eyes.
Her cheeks turning red, she stuttered, trying to make an apology.
"I.... uhhh...... sorry... I didn't mean... hi...," she stuttered,
greatly flustered and nervously.
"Uhhh... hi, Serena... sorry... I didn't see you there...," he
stuttered, also turning a bright red. He noticed that she was wearing a
light pink full body dress, that came to mid-thigh and out-lined her
curves like a second skin.  He was having a hard time concentrating. He
forced himself to look back at her face.
"Did... you, by any chance... uhhh.... have a dream.... say...
about you and me... in a row boat....?" he asked nervously, suddenly
curious if she had.
Serena just stared at him. No way! she tried to tell herself. This
is too weird...
"Ummm... well... yes, as a matter of fact... did.. did you....?"
she asked.
"Yeah," he said, then started to laugh, "Why would we dream up
such a thing? Hehe... Sounds crazy... isn't it...?" he trailed off.
  "Yeah... crazy..." she muttered.
Darien drew up every ounce of courage and said, "Uhh... Serena, I
think we need to talk. I don't know what it is about you, but...," he
took a deep breath, "I think I like you." He waited for the words of
rejection, but found that she laid a gentle hand on his shoulder.
Serena smiled, her heart filling with joy, and looked at him.
"You do? That is so weird because... I like you, too. I don't know
what it is, but even through all the teasing, somewhere deep inside I
knew that I liked
you... maybe even looked you..." she trailed off. She breathed in and
out slow, even breaths, trying to calm her thudding heart.
Darien couldn't believe his ears. He smiled and said, "You do?
That's great! So... do... do you want to get a drink or something...
or... maybe... go for a boat ride...?" he said smiling and secretly
hoping she would agree.
"Sure... I think that would be nice..." she said happily and
shyly.
He gently took her hand and walked toward the dock. "One row boat,
please," he said to the attendant.
They both turned to look at each other and smiled, knowing what
was to come.
