Sitting on her bed, her knees tucked up to her chest, Tsukino Usagi cried silently in the darkness. I can't do this. Not anymore. Please, no more. Downstairs, the voice of the local news anchorwoman drifted to her ears, "Is Sailor Moon capable of protecting our city? Has she caused more harm than good? Can we really count on her?" I'm not capable. Not anymore. No more. When you feel all alone And the world has turned its back on you. Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold When darkness is upon your door and you feel lie you can't take anymore *Flashback* "Sailor Moon, you have to finish that youma off and help us! Now!" Sailor Mars yelled. "Sou!" Sailor Moon closed her eyes, ready to chant her attack however an evil laugh caused her to open them again only to look in horror as the youma grabbed a civilian. "What are you going to do now Sailor Moon?" the youma held the woman against its front and began backing away. "Shimatta! Somebody help me!" Sailor Moon glanced around quickly only to gasp in dismay. Everyone was busy fighting their own youmas. "You can't do anything Sailor Moon! Attack me and you kill her too!" "I-I don't know what to do!" Beads of perspiration gathered on her forehead and dripped into her eyes. With intense concentration she scanned the youma for any weaknesses. She couldn't find any with her bare eyes. "Sailor Moon, help me!" the woman yelled, pleading eyes begging her to do something. "Oh Kami," she gave one last look around. Even Tuxedo Kamen was fighting with his cane. "Too late!" all of a sudden the youma pushed the woman forward and zapped her. She screamed in pain and Sailor Moon ran forward, trying to save her. Too late. It was too late. She held the woman in her arms and watched as she breathed her last. "No! No! No! Don't die! You can't die!" "Incompetent Sailor Moon! Can't even save one person! It is better that I get rid of you now, and rid the world of such a nuisance." She looked up to see the youma bearing down on her and struggled to pull the woman with her. All of a sudden she was picked up and pulled away. "Iie! The woman, I have to save her!" "I'm sorry...Usako." "No!" *End Flashback* Tears blocked her vision as she looked around her room. Normal. That's what her room screamed to the outsider. A normal teenage girl. If only these walls could talk, what would the outsider think then? And then a flutter of the curtains and she found herself enveloped in a warm hug. Roses. Sweet, sweet roses. "Tuxedo Kamen," she gasped and hugged him tightly, trying to bring him closer to her. He was her support, her life. "Usako, my love." Let me be the one you call If you jump I'll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash and burn You're not alone "They looked at me, and I could see! I could see the accusation in their eyes. I should have been able to save her," she sobbed, "but I couldn't." "Usako, it wasn't your fault." "But it was and it is!" she hit him on the chest, frustration and guilt consuming her, "Can't you see? I'm not capable, Sailor Moon isn't capable..." "Usa-" "What if, what if it had been my mother? Kami, I wouldn't have been able to save my own mother!" she hit him again and he took it, flinching only slightly, understanding the pain that she harbored. "I can't do it Mamo-chan. What if they say I can't be their leader? They might kick me out because they'll know I'm not good enough. They'll hate me for being so irresponsible. And then I'll have no one." "You'll have me." When you feel all alone And a loyal friend is hard to find You're caught in a one way street With the monsters in your head When hopes and dreams are far away You feel like you can't face the day All of a sudden he covered her mouth with his gloved hand and gestured her to stay quiet. It was her parents, coming up the stairs to go to their bedroom. "And to think we have to depend our lives on a little girl like that," her father said. "Kenji! I'm sure she didn't let it happen on purpose. She probably just....wasn't thinking properly." "Either way, she's dangerous," their voices drifted away as they walked into their room. Mamoru sighed and would have said something when a sudden wetness on his glove made him look down. Her eyes were closed yet tears still seeped out and she shook slightly, grief bowing her over, the world's troubles on her shoulders. He removed his hand and tilted her chin up. Leaning down, he placed butterfly kisses on her face and then tenderly, gave her a soft, lingering kiss. "Usako... don't listen to that. They don't know the truth." "They do, even they can see, and their words...I can't... handle it. What would they say when they found out that that dangerous girl is their own daughter? Oh Mamo-chan," she rubbed her face in his shirt and looked up at him. "I can't bear the guilt and condemnation. I just want to help people, not hurt them." "Come with me, love," he lifted her in his arms and she clutched onto him. "W-Were are we going?" "Into the night." Let me be the one you call If you jump I'll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash and burn You're not alone "You have to close your eyes." "Doushite?" "You'll see." She felt him land and held onto him when a gust of wind nearly toppled her over. "Where are we?" "Open your eyes and see." She did and gasped. It seemed as though they were on top of the world. The city of Tokyo lay before them, lights blinking everywhere. It was so alive and so full of life. The wind blew again, tossing Usagi's hair and Mamoru's cape around them. "It's beautiful, Mamo-chan," she breathed, "Thank you for bringing me up here." "I didn't want you to just see the sights Usako, I wanted you to see the lives," he came up behind her and held her against him, "Think of all the lives, the lives that you have saved. You've sacrificed yourself so many times, Usako, just for the sake of these people. People you don't know, never even heard of, you have saved. "Think of your parents and family, the ones who love you no matter what, who would protect you in any way they could, even though they don't know half of your story. Think of your friends, the ones who give you support as they fight along side you, as they sacrifice themselves with you, just to save a world that takes everything for granted." "And I think of you the most," she added, turning her head to look at him, "my love and my destined one as you stand beside me and love me for who I am, not what I am." "I do, aishiteru Usako," he said huskily and then gestured with his hand towards the city, "Think of all the many times this city could have been destroyed in the blink of an eye. But you are its savior, its unsung hero and you would do it all over again, given the choice." "I would," she whispered. Because there has always been heartache and pain and when it's over you'll breathe again You'll breathe again "That's what makes you so beautiful, Usa. It's your heart. So pure and so gracious," he turned her around and gazed deeply into her eyes, "This city is grateful to you, they just haven't realized it yet. In time they'll come to realize that even though one life was lost, so many more were saved. You'll see Usako, this world will come to cherish you, just like I do, when they realize how important you are in their lives." "But in the meantime..." she broke off and sank to the ground running a hand through the grass. He lowered himself next to her and brought his cap around so that it covered her. "In the meantime, you won't give up because we need you to be the 'champion and defender of love and justice' for as long as possible. I need you." "I need you too Mamo-chan, I need you so much. Sometimes I think that it's not worth going on, you know? Life can get so difficult, and having a bad day as Sailor Moon doesn't help the situation. The pressure is tremendous and sometimes I ask, 'why me?'" When you feel all alone And the world has turned its back on you Give me a moment please To tame your wild wild heart "Why you, Usa? Because you are the only one worthy enough of such a task." "Mamo-chan, you always know what to say," she smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. A comfortable silence passed between them, when she spoke, "How do you do it? How do you know how to make my day...and my night?" "I don't know, I guess it's just something I say from my heart, out of my love for you." She giggled and placed a light kiss on his jaw, "You are so corny Mamo-chan. That's why I love you so much. Tell me, will you always be there for me?" "Always, forever and ever, I promise." He lowered his head and brushed his lips against hers. Smiling, she pressed her lips against his once more and they kissed fully and sweetly the lights of the stars above them, and the lights of the city beneath them. Let me be the one you call If you jump I'll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash and burn You're not alone. ~*~*The End*~*~ E-mail me at patchkhan1@hotmail.com It's your comments that keep me going and going and going and going and *thump* sorry, I get carried away.
