Ronnie Hawthorn's Americana folk art business feels like a perfect, cozy fit in the 100-year-old farmhouse in Green Springs, tucked into the Missouri Ozarks. After the death of her husband and the father of her six year old daughter, Ronnie takes a big step out of the city, moving herself and Natalie to this quiet country town, using the insurance money to fund her new business.

Natalie is settling into her new surroundings beautifully and the towns' people are warm and welcoming. Ronnie's life is looking up, her work is going well and then she impulsively plants an accidental kiss on her landlord, business mogul Dave Darden. CEO of the nationwide chain of Darden's General Stores, Dave Darden is not only one of the wealthiest men in the country, he's one of the most eligible bachelors.

The attraction between Ronnie and Darden simmers below the surface like the earthquake faults beneath the Ozark hills. Ronnie desperately needs to be seen as a capable and successful businesswoman and Dave's attentions, however much he stirs her heart, are seen too often as meddling. As her friendships with Dave's aunt and uncle, Bob and Edna Mueller, Alice Lenz other townsfolk deepen, and the awkward, unwelcome advances of farmer Floyd Johnston continue, Ronnie tries to balance her need to succeed with her growing interest in Darden.

Country music star, Tammi Hart, complicates matters, too. She and Dave Darden have been an "item" for some time, highly visible at industry events, frequently photographed together. Ronnie has less and less time to worry about Dave's relationships, however, as her business picks up with large orders, among them, one from Tammi Hart.

Just about the time Ronnie thinks she's found more solid footing both with her business and in her relationship with Dave Darden, however, an earthquake in the Ozark caves and the discovery Dave has been meddling in her business affairs shake her world to its core.

Cynthianna Appel has crafted a story as warm and homey as the small Missouri town in which it's set. Packed with typical American family values, COUNTRY BOY, CITY GIRL is a gentle story with limited sensuality, but plenty of tease and flirting, filled with characters everyone will recognize from small town America. From the first pages, you'll feel you're home in Green Springs along with Ronnie Hawthorn.
