When Cade Wheeler and five of his men arrive at the Wheeler Ranch after the Civil War, they have only one thing on their minds--revenge against the man who turned traitor and caused the deaths of twenty four men in their company. Despite his determination to see justice done, Cade finds it difficult to use Pilar diVieri to locate her treacherous brother.

The two families have been bitter enemies for thirty years, but Cade and Pilar are caught up in mixed emotions. With their growing attraction for one another, they become reluctant to use the other when it comes to seeking information about Leveau's whereabouts. Will Cade continue to uphold the oath he made to get revenge on Leveau diVieri or will growing feelings for Pilar intervene?

Western author Leigh Greenwood begins a new series which takes place after the Civil War. Cade Wheeler was his company's commanding officer and he believes he's responsible for the deaths of most of his men. Cade's mixed feelings for the French/Spanish Pilar create the conflict of the series' first story. How much has the war changed these two people and their families? Pilar's grandmother, and Cade's grandfather provide the antagonism which help build the plot, and there are squatters who aren't about to make life easy for anyone. Readers get to know a little about the ex-Confederates who arrive with Cade.

It'll take men and women as tough as the Texas land to survive in this country. Leigh Greenwood promises that and more, in his new Texas Homecoming series.
