Trace Jones doesn't have much time to get back to California, pack up his things and head out to his new job in Chicago. Getting lost in the middle of nowhere in Missouri, and smashing his car into a tree doesn't help matters either. Trace isn't too impressed, at first, with the woman who stops to help him. Since he can't go anywhere until his car is fixed, he works out a deal with the gal, to stay on her property and help with chores, until he can be on his way. Little does he know, the next few days won't be as simple as he expects.

Emaline Payton is a pig farmer, and really doesn't need a city slicker getting in the way, but she can't just abandon the man. Despite her first impressions, she's willing to give him a chance to work for her, while he's waiting to get his car fixed. Trace turns out to be a surprise to her, and she finds herself not looking forward to the time when he'll be leaving. Financial problems and a series of setbacks, draw these two unlikely people together to solve a mystery.

What would you do if fate offered you the Chance of a Lifetime? It takes time for Trace and Em to realize they're in such a situation. The pairing off of a city man and a country girl seems unlikely, but they have the opportunity to reach out for something they've never had. Trace's reactions to the chores Em completes every day is humorous at times, but when Em breaks her arm in a fall from a tree, he volunteers to take over. How hard can it be?

Secondary characters show a strong trait to protect their own, as they keep a careful eye on Trace. Pete becomes a likeable twelve year old, who reluctantly grows attached to both Em and Trace. Life on a pig farm is descriptive and has its fun moments. Scenes are well written and keep you reading to see if Trace can learn a different way of life.

Amy Leigh's light romance proves a Chance of A Lifetime could come your way when you least expect it.
