Jeanne Tucker is different from other thirteen year olds, and tries to hide it, but they harass her just the same. Surprisingly, only Peter Burns is willing to befriend her, despite his twin's meanness. Jeanne offers to teach Peter to ride horseback and the first lesson goes awry. When Jeanne is thrown from her nervous horse and literally rolls 'into' the tree, Peter is forced to follow her.
The teens have been chosen to help the Free Lands break free of the power of three witches. Peter doesn't believe in magic, but his disbelief, paired off with Jeanne's talents, is needed to help break the curse. Can they fulfill the prophecy to rid the land of evil?
Do you believe in magic? Witch hounds, elves, goblins, dwarfs and talking horses are the non human characters to populate this fascinating tale of another world. Three witches are gradually enslaving the population and it will take two humans to find the means to end it. Both Jeanne and Peter have a great deal to learn about magic, and they also learn how to work as a team. At times, it isn't easy since Peter doesn't believe.
The action is practically non stop throughout the story. Each incident takes you to the next until, before you realize it, you've reached the end. The plot moves smoothly, while it grabs and holds on to your imagination. Young adults aren't the only ones who will enjoy this tale. Anyone who holds a fascination for the world of magical creatures will undoubtedly enjoy the fantasy as well. So clear your minds and follow Jeanne and Peter as their adventures take them in search of The Crystal Throne.
