Hannah MaGee is about to take on her last case as a skip-tracer. Her boss, Eliott is in a really tight spot since two people have jumped bail. He stands to lose his company and credibility as a bail bondsman, if these two aren't recaptured, and he has only four days to find them. Hannah could use the money from this assignment to get her own business started, but the worse part of this assignment, is being paired off with Chad Hogan.. again. The former skip-tracer has been called in to work with Hannah.
When Hannah and Chad begin looking for clues to the double disapearance, Hannah is faced with another problem. She has no choice but to bring along her eight month old daughter, Bonnie. Chad is shocked to discover he has a daughter. Why didn't Hannah get in touch with him to let him know? How is he going to deal with the situation?
Bonnie MaGee is a charming eight month old, who easily catches readers' hearts. With a devoted mother, and a father who is trying to get used to the idea of being a father again, she keeps both adults busy... at least when they're not busy chasing other grownups. She isn't aware of the ghosts in Dad's past, and how they stand in the way of his future happiness. Neither is she aware of the high tech crooks the two adults are after.
Just Eight Months Old deals with a double plot. Hannah and Chad have to find a way to resolve the differences between them or go their separate ways. What's best for Bonnie, may not be best for them. In the meantime, they have two bail jumpers to find while they try to stay out of the clutches of some nasty people.
The story alternates between fast moving events and the problems between Hannah and Chad, but the plot works out smoothly right to the end. It's easy to get involved in this story and secondary characters help to make sure you stay with the chase. Description and dialogue enhance the story. Even Bonnie manages to get in a word or two.
How do you get the job done with an eight month old in tow? You'll have to read this entertaining story to find out.
