What you see is what you get. Right? Maybe not...
When Mick Lenihan saunters into the court room, potential jurists back away from him. The scruffy looking man can only be there to support the defendant in the upcoming trial. Who would believe he'd be chosen as one of the jury for the case? Right from the start, Mick has his eye on Stephanie Neill. He has his work cut out for him if he thinks he's going to succeed in his pursuit of the lovely businesswoman.
Stephanie has been looking forward to jury duty...until she realizes she's being targeted by Lenihan, for what she thinks is purely lustful intent. Stephanie is practically engaged to an insurance executive, and Kent is the perfect match--or so she believes. But Mick is about to turn her ordered world upside down.
Renegade is an entertaining tale of the impression one 'bad boy' makes on a group of upstanding citizens. Fran Keighley takes an all too common bias and creates a believable romance. Her characters are well rounded and live up to reader expectations. Mick's behavior keeps you wondering if he has something to hide, and Stephanie proves she's not as sure of what she wants, as she thought. A few chuckles are sprinkled throughout, to give the story an occasional light touch. The court case makes an intriguing background, with some fascinating bits of witness testimony, and fits nicely into the story's theme.
Renegade is fun and entertaining, and one I heartily recommend. After all, there's a bit of Renegade in all of us.
