Lyddie Shea Seton has her hands full running the hotel in Crossroads and looking after her younger siblings, especially the twins. Those two are forever scheming and getting into trouble... nothing serious, mind you.. until now. Like the folks who come into the small town, the twins are looking for the gold hidden by Gentleman John, who just happens to be their late grandfather.

One particular searcher left Lyddie with a terrible secret wearing on her conscience. When Pinkerton agent Nick Brown shows up to investigate the derailing of a train, Lyddie fears her secret will be discovered. She does her best to fight her attraction to the man, and learning his true identity should make it a bit easier to keep him at arm's length... or maybe not.

What's the secret Lyddie is so desperate to keep hidden, which could cost her Nick's love? What is she going to do with the twins?

A grandmother, two sisters and a set of twins, is a lot of responsibility for anyone, but Lyddie handles it as best she can. Keeping the hotel going is how she keeps her family together, and it doesn't leave much time for romance. Nick and Lyddie have the legend of Gentleman John's gold standing between them and they have to decide how they'll deal with it.

The twins keep everyone hopping with their bright ideas. One incident in the story adds tension but also provides some humor, as well as embarrasses Lyddie. The Sheas prove life in a very small town doesn't have to be boring. Scenic descriptions add to the romantic ambiance, and secondary characters contribute their own problems to the story. The overall plot is fairly light and enjoyable.

Author Tori Light has gambled, and found gold in her small town of Crossroads.
