Jix found the perfect way to stop her best friend's marriage. Getting Samantha drunk, and on a plane to Scotland was the easy part. The hard part was still ahead of them. What should be a "cooling off" weekend at a Scottish festival, turns out to be more than expected. James MacGregor has had enough of his job in Scotland Yard and is ready for a change. A two week holiday at his uncle's manor should help him clear his head to make some decisions about his future. Highland Dream goes a step beyond the traditional time travel by combining the present with the past. Past stories keep the hero/heroine's beginnings a secret when they travel back in time, but Tess Mallory uses some bits of the present to create amusing situations, particularly when it comes to language.

Jix is forever coming up with bright ideas; she uses lies and imagination to hide her pain and insecurities. Jamie is ever resourceful, but he learns to work with Jix's ideas and combine them with his own. Between the two, you never know what will happen next.

Secondary characters are colorful and add to the adventure. The plot rarely slows down, only long enough to let you catch your breath before plunging in again. Humor is plentiful and innuendos show up in unexpected places. You'll get a kick out of when they.... well, you'll have to read the book to find out what they're up to.
