Pherus, the current Highlord of Orgon, is running scared. He wants his son dead before the younger man can make his claim to rule Orgon. Narragan has been beaten, mutilated and exiled to another world, where treatment is even worse. Why does his father want him dead? What secrets does Pherus harbor concerning the rule of the highlords?

The New Alliance has found Narragan and is returning him to his home, to replace his father, who has fled Orgon. Narragan has met another telepath, but the meeting isn't exactly pleasant, or under normal conditions. The New Alliance will learn everything they can about Nargi's telepathic abilities to, hopefully, control him. But neither they nor Nargi, realize the extent of his capabilities. The women in his life won't have an easy time dealing with this formidable young man.

Highlord of Darkness consists of many intriguing subplots, all leading back to the hero and his fight to maintain his right to rule. Narragan, Diana and Morgana form the core of the story. These are two of the women he's learned to love, but cannot keep because of what he is. Diana understands what he's been through, because she's experienced much the same prejudice from her own people. Morgan is forced into the position of becoming Narragan's temporary wife, and faces the hardships and uncertainties of being married to the highlord.

The action and intrigue never let up throughout this constantly moving story. Some secondary characters play roles almost as important as the main characters. Tension is constantly building, leaving you to wonder what side certain characters are really on. The depth of this tightly woven novel will keep you reading to the end. This is a story you'll want to read again, to get the most out of it. This highlord came from darkness, but where will he end?
