Setting: New Orleans

Alexandra Tibideaux has just received a telegram from her grandmother. Expecting the worst, she hurries home, only to find Grams alive and well. So what's the reason for scaring Alex nearly to death? Grams has decided it's time to tell Alex a story, one which could change the young woman's life in a big way. Grams is working up to telling Alex about a portrait at the Dalton Plantation... a portrait which is the key to Alex's future.

Trey Dalton can't figure out how the lovely stranger ended up on the floor of his home, unconscious. His Aunt Rose, who was preparing to return to her own home, decides to stay and act as chaperon for the young lady. Rose begins creating an elaborate tale to explain Alex's sudden appearance. Someone uses the knowledge of Trey's attraction to the young miss, to justify their own actions. Who wants to see Trey destroyed? Who would go so far as to put Alex in danger to achieve their own goals?

A Portrait in Time is both amusing and mysterious. Alex discovers Aunt Rose is very much like her own Grams, but Aunt Rose is a stickler for seeing to it Alex learns to do things the proper southern way, especially when it comes to dressing. The styles are something Alex can do without.

There are lots of twists and turns in the plot. You can never be sure who is friend or foe. You'll find some amusing as well as serious moments throughout the story. Just what are those strange moves Alex uses to protect herself? You'll have to read the story to find out. You'll never look at a portrait again without wondering....
