Rafael de Aguirre is waiting at the train station to meet his best friend's wife, when he meets a lovely lady, he believes will one day be his. He's embarrassed to discover he's made overtures to his friend's wife, and in the next few weeks, the school teacher avoids the couple as much as possible. One night, the Renegade is seen leaning over Westley's body, and the only witness to his leaving the scene is the wife. How will he explain what she's seen and find the real murderer?

Evelyn Reid is dismayed to find herself attracted to the man at the train depot. She's not the kind to take her marriage vows lightly, although her marriage isn't a typical one. When Rafael stays away from the couple, she misses his company and her feelings for the school teacher become confused when she accuses him of murdering her husband. Evelyn becomes a hostage for his friends when he's rescued from the train taking him to Denver for trial. Deep down she knows he didn't murder Westley, but can she help him find the real murderer?

Renegade is a fast moving tale consisting of several subplots. The Renegade himself bears similarity to the tales of Zorro. The story doesn't revolve around discovering his true identity, but rather, how he fits into the mystery of the Pueblo. Why are soldiers and landowners so anxious to take over a poor bit of land? What secrets does the Pueblo hide, which the inhabitants know nothing about?

Rafael and Evelyn try to find the pieces of the puzzle while trying to protect their 'partners in crime'. Two students, a mother, and Rafael's Indian uncle, make up the motley crew determined to find out the truth behind the accusations against Rafael. The chase is on throughout the New Mexico territory and won't stop until the answers are found. There doesn't seem to be time for romance but it finds its way into Rafael's and Evelyn's lives.

Join Rafael and Evelyn in a run for the truth, and their bid to see the name of the Renegade cleared.
