A few years earlier, Rafael de Aguirre protected the pueblo of Tewa when he donned the mask and cape of the Renegade. Since his marriage, he's turned the care of Tewa over to his younger brother.
Since the deliberate cavein of one of the kivas which nearly wiped out the pueblo prisoners, Diego has felt unworthy to follow his brother's footsteps. Diego's mettle is about to be tested on two fronts: one is the lovely photographer, Melanie Muessen, and the other is the Renegade. Can he pass them? The pueblo citizens don't think so...
The Renegade rides again, but this time there's more at stake than just a small town. This masked hero has something to prove to himself. Playing a double role, Diego creates intrigue and keeps the pueblo residents guessing, when a man arrives, claiming to be the pueblo's new owner. Diego and his friends have to find out what this newcomer is after and what has become of Rafael and his family.
Ms Piel does a great job in creating Diego's self doubt. His pretenses are very convincing and lead doubts to the Renegade's true identity. Melanie isn't the tyical young heroine and is a pleasure to follow. Readers see the surrounding country through the eyes of a photographer. Secondary characters continue their roles from the original Renegade tale, creating a smooth transition from that story.
The Renegade's Heart is actually a double romance, love for one person and a special place, and a tale only the Renegade can tell... Enjoy.
