Caleb Tanner knows what it's like to be separated from his siblings at a very young age. It happened to him when he was six and his father died. Now, he's determined it won't happen to his orphaned nieces and nephews. It'll take a mail order bride to help fix things so he can keep the kids.
When Elthia Sinclair shows up, she's in for the shock of her life. What she believes to be a temporary governess' job is in reality a marriage contract. She has no idea how the papers got switched, with her signature on them, and now she's trying to find a way out of the marriage, but she hadn't counted on six youngsters getting under her skin. Time is running out, and so is Elthia's determination to stay uninvolved. Can she keep her distance from Caleb, while he finds another woman to marry?
Winnie Griggs has captured something special in her latest release. The story plot is one where the hero does all he can to keep history from repeating itself. Caleb doesn't seem to be the type to settle down or have the patience for a half dozen kids, while Elthia, coming from a wealthy family, doesn't give the impression of being able to do much in the way of cooking and keeping house.
There are some funny mishaps throughout the story, as Caleb and Elthia learn to make adjustments to the situation. Wait till you meet Poppy, "An annoying little lap dog wasn't part of the bargain..." but Poppy is full of surprises. The youngsters make up most of the secondary characters, and you can't help but care about them. Each child has their own problem in dealing with the loss of their parents.
You don't want to pass up this wonderful story, because, I can promise you, the characters will touch your heart. Winnie Griggs didn't write just a romance with this one... she wrote Something More.
