Setting: Cheyenne, Wyoming

Daniel Chase-Meyers II has just been released from prison after serving a six year sentence for manslaughter. All he wants to do now is get out of Wyoming and away from his grandfather's hold. Daniel is wealthy, but the older man has frozen all his assets to prevent anyone from trying to gain access. Daniel would rather go without, than be under his grandfather's thumb again.

Jeremi Kruger has just fired her obnoxious employee and he promises to get even. There's no one else to do his job so Jeremi sets out to unload the heavy supplies from her van. A strong arm saves her from being squashed under a carton and Jeremi is both grateful and annoyed. She ends up offering a job to her 'rescuer'. Jeremi is surprised to find how quickly and accurately he can do the job of cutting mats for framing. The fact Daniel is an ex con doesn't really bother her.. as long as he follows her rules.

Despite her attraction to him, she tries to keep him at arm's length, but with Daniel's appearance comes trouble. Is Daniel the source of it? Or is the cause one disgruntled ex employee? Attempts made on both their lives, and destruction to business supplies wears on Jeremi's nerves.

Right from the beginning, readers know well, who the villain of the story is. The fact this one is female and totally lacking in scruples, makes the story all the harder to put down. In a way, you have to feel sorry for her, but that doesn't last long. Her deviousness carries the plot along, creating several desperate situations for Jeremi and Daniel.

Then there's Jeremi's family to deal with.. Four older brothers and a father don't help Jeremi in her bid for independence. What will they do when they learn about Daniel and his background? Will Daniel and Jeremi finally discover who's behind all the breakins to her shop? Can she keep distance between herself and her employee?

Be careful when you read A Dark Wind, it'll blow you away.
