Marie Penthievre of Chalandrey is notified of her brother's death and summarily abducted from the convent where her father left her before he went crusading three years before. When Marie realizes they're not take her home, but to the Duke of Brittany, she manages to make her escape. In her attempt to return to the convent, she's assaulted by robbers and rescued by a Breton knight. But there's something odd about the knight.

Tiarnan of Talensac is the Duke of Brittany's champion, and Tiaran will be arriving in Rennes to tell the duke of his upcoming marriage to Eline of Comper. No one is aware of the deep dark secret Tiarnan harbors, but once he confides in his bride, betrayal is his only reward. Marie begins to put together the pieces of the knight's disappearance, but will it be in time to save him?

A good book can keep you up most of the night, and The Wolf Hunt certainly falls into this category. While classified as historical fiction, I found it to be that and more. You'll visit the paranormal while indulging in a vivid description of life in Brittany during the Crusades. Marie is central to the subplot of who will get Chalandrey, a key estate for both Norman and Breton dukes. She also plays detective when trying to work out the disappearance of Brittany's foremost knight.

The plot is different and has abundant suspense to keep you reading. Gillian Bradshaw brings historical events to life and adds her own brand of plot twists. The Wolf Hunt is a unique story you don't want to miss.
