Declan Harper wants to marry the richest gal in town, Vanessa Arrington. His plans have nothing to do with love, but are a means of gaining certain revenge on her father. He goes to Matilda Candy's home, to get a love potion. Miss Candy certainly isn't the same Candy woman he recalls from his childhood. Matilda Candy is the local witch. Although people won't admit it to anyone else, some occasionally show up on her doorstep for potions. They want Matilda to marry their father, which means finding a way to get rid of their step mother. Keeping Matilda from getting involved with another man creates more problems for them.
