2/14/01- St. Valentine Wishing you love and chocolates. I'm leaving work a little early today. Todd left at noon, Rick was gone at 2:30. It's pretty much this journal entry that prevents me from taking the 45 minute drive home. I'm hoping that the house is at least a little less of a rat race tonight. Last night I picked up ingredients for dinner on my way home; Spaghetti and meatballs, usually a crowd pleaser, but the kids just kinda stared at it and asked if they could just start their homework. So, I agonized over dinner for no reason at all. I should have just dumped the spaghetti into Ginger's bowl and avoided dirty dishes all together. After dinner, the kids started filling out their valentines to their classmates. Calvin got the Nickelodeon themed cards, Shelby's cards were metallic silver with the graven images of Back street Boys, Katie was scribbling on "Blue's Clues" valentines... and best of all; Cameron got "Crocodile Hunter" Valentines. While the kids worked through their lists of classmates I went back to the store to get Monica's prescription, stuff for the kids' lunch, and some Valentine gifts. By the time I got home the kids were hopping into bed, and I had dishes, full of uneaten spaghetti, meatballs and french bread that need to be washed. It was a bonanza for the dog. I nearly forgot that it was "garbage night". In some of the less ecologically conscious cities of the world, garbage night might entail hauling a plastic bags to the curb. Portland/Vancouver residents divide, then sub-divide their refuse into a half dozen bins. Glass, plastic, metal, newsprint, misc. paper, cardboard and non-recyclables. Cleaned and separated. toted to the curb. At 11:15 pm, the immobile Monica informed me that Shelby needed clean underwear for school, so I did a load of whites. Monica promised me a special Valentine dinner in return. Not surprisingly, I just got a call here at work, asking me to find something good to make for dinner tonight. I wonder if Ginger likes Chinese food. By the way,
