I survived the 3-day weekend

Despite some overwhelming odds, I'd give the weekend a thumbs up. Ted (my idiot Father in-law) was home, which normally is the only ingredient required to destroy the day. He was the same brash, arrogant moron he normally is, but I was able to avoid him, and he and Patty (Mom in-law) were finaly able to act sane around each other.
Their relationship goes through ugly cycles; I think they are out of the "rabid dog phase", and moving to the equally nauseating "kissy phase".
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I don't know if it was a dose of good living coming back to charm my weekend, or the fact that her prescriptions were filled on Saturday, but Monica felt good on Saturday... and took the girls shopping.
Not to be out done, Calvin and I decided on the spur of the moment to go see some NBA Basketball. The Boston Celtics were in town, a worthy opponent (but a certain win) for our Portland Trailblazers. We'd cough-up a little cash for the $15 cheap seats, and afterwards we'll hangout by the back door and get autographs from the players.

I ended up paying a scalper $80 for a pair of tickets, $5 for parking, the lowly Celtics were victorious... and the only Autograph we got was Walter McCarty (who?), a bench warmer.

Sunday night, Katie and Shelby had their friends over to spend the night. I had to go to bed early (midnight), but the kids were up even later since Monday was their President's Day holiday. The next morning, after I had gone to work, Shelby (age 7) and her friend (age 8) decided to get up and bake a cake. They made a horrible mess, touched the oven (isn't that one of the "Kid 10 Commandments?), and tried to conceal the evidence. Thankfully they didn't burn themselves, or torch the house.
I hear that the cake wasn't half bad!
