Welcome, skeptics this is about discovering new insights into the Aramaic words of Jesus commonly called The Beatitudes. although the words spoken by Jesus were important to his audience, I have seen that they apply very much to my life right now and that the practises on these tapes which Neil calls 'body prayers' allow a most-unusual unfolding to happen, hence I use the word 'un-learning.' As a first thing to un-learn: the Aramaic language has no word for 'body.' You are welcome to join me at the apartment I share with a roommate, where we will listen to these tapes and talk about what each of us experiences as a result of doing the body meditations. It is best that a set of these tapes be purchased those who want to gain the most benefit by listening on their own in between days that we gather. I will not lend this set to anyone, nor will I make any copy of a tape, but I may rent out tapes. The Internet is one resource which has a multitude of available sources. Check out these links, or do your own search for Healing Breath by Neil Douglas-Klotz. Sounds True is the publisher of these tapes. Click here to listen to a sample. It is a wish of mine to keep the group as un-structured as possible, so that it stays flexible and fun. Rather than being a 'meeting', which to me connotates a rigid and heirarchical organization, I chose to call it a 'gathering.' This makes it lots easier to have fun and be who you are. These tapes may also facilitate breaking free of the cultural restrictions that come being immersed in a country that places so much emphasis on accepting information as 'truth', especially when an authority is cited as the source of this information. This gathering is open to: those who "know it all" (this is the kind of imposter that describes my posture, and whom are most in need of these meaningful practises), those who are "searching," (you may find what you are looking for here, or you may just have lots of fun while you're here), anyone who questions the accuracy or the usefulness of these tapes, and those who have nothing better to do than take up space in a stranger's living room. Those who have something better to do and come anyway will be shown the door. Since this group is just starting, your voice is welcome in shaping and forming how the group begins and what will take place in this gathering. It is fun to have input about what happens. It also will change when you stop attending. I say this not to demand that a person attend every gathering, this is not always possible. It merely means that any group has dynamics which ebb and flow as members contribute their own ideas, feelings, and mere presence. These energies of yours stay with the group for a while, but do diminish greatly when you leave (no longer attend). Just as in life, you must "stick around" till the end if you want to find out what difference you made by participating. It is a courtesy that I ask of you to let the group know if you want to join, let the group know if you want to quit. And, just as in life, this group will end, stop breathing, die.
