this song was written for a person who is going through confusing feelings and emotions (as most teenagers do). not knowing how to put these frustrations into words, it comes out in wild emotions and tantrums/anger and rebellion.
livng in the iowa city homeless shelter, october 2003, the final words came to me that finished the song.
dedicated to the teen-ager in everyone, this is sung to the tune of
"Teen Angel", the hit 60's song.  Click this link and find the tune to re-hear the song.

Teen Ager

Teen-ager, teen-ager, teen-ager, O-O-o-o-o,

No one understands your moods,
your parents only sigh,
You slip into your hiding place,
I hear your every cry,

(Chorus)  Teen-ager, can you hear me?
Teen-ager, can you see me?
Are you really out of touch,
Or has life dealt you a bit too much?

Your ugliness is not a crime,
Though you feel otherwise,
Deep-down you think you don't belong,
You're in for a surprise!

(repeat Chorus)

Keep looking for that special one,
Who hears with open heart,
But, won't put up with pity tears,
They make you do your part.

(repeat Chorus)

Teen-ager, teen-ager, I love you so!
