Many of you; our family and friends had no idea that Brian and I had met with our agency again to start the adoption process again. We only told a few people since we expected the wait to be a year or longer.
Thanks to the incredible people we have dealt with at our agency, we were place in three weeks.
The Executive Director from our agency called Brian on Friday, May 16th with the news. He told us to take our time making the decision. We wasted no time at all and at the end of the day we told them we wanted to do this.
The very next day I called the foster mom to see when we could go visit the little guy. We went that night. We instantly fell in love with him, he's gorgeous! We snapped of a ton of pictures!
We were kind of hesitant in calling foster mom all week afterwards since we didn't want to bother her, however, I did. He had gone for his two week check up and now weighs a whopping 7 obs 4 oz. (Birth weight was 5 lbs, 14 oz). He's growing perfectly! We went ahead and set up a time to go see him again on Saturday, the 24th of May. He looked so much bigger than he did the prior week!
The decision has been made that we will take possesion of him on Saturday, June 7th. This doesn't mean that we are automatically his parents. We still have to have three post placement reports done by a social worker within the first six months he is living with us. IF, they decide to grant us "fit parents" then we will have to hire an outside attorney to file the necessary paperwork in the Circuit Court of our county. Once that is finished and we go to court, the adoption will be finalized.
It's sort of a monotonous process, but necessary! We still can't wait for all of you to meet him! |

A short diary...
Tuesday, May 27- A friend of mine told me about a consignment shop near us and I decided to check it out. I was specifically looking for a bassinet and a bouncy seat. I found both, almost brand new!! I also purchased a tiny pair of jeans and a Washington Capitals outfit! (So Brian, Andrew and Brendan can all wear them together!) I only spent a total of $55.; SHOCKING!
Wednesday, May 28- Brian and I both went for our health physicals. Andrew goes Friday. We checked out fine, we both go back Friday morning to have our "skin test" (TB) read, and Monday the HIV results come back. Once that all comes back (for us AND Andrew) we will be one step closer to the end of the "paperwork stage". |
