Dragon Spells

This is the basis of all Dragon rituals in the practice of Dragon Magick. The practicing magician can insert his / her own music, dance, meditation, or personal rituals that they have written in appropriate places without disrupting the flow of energy. When you read through this ritual you will see that certain things are to be done at certain times other than that the Magician can do what feels right to her / him. It is important that you have all the appropriate tools and materials you will need before starting. Make any preparations so that nothing disturbs you. If you are practicing decreasing Magick it is important to remember that anywhere in the ritual that it says "circle clockwise" ,you should circle counterclockwise. Another way of doing this is to cast a clockwise outer circle with a counterclockwise inner circle.

Begin the ritual by going to the East, with sword in power hand "draw" Magickal circle on floor around ritual area.This is done by pointing sword at the floor and seeing great flames shooting from it. Move clockwise around the circle with this flame ; end by overlapping it in the East. While drawing the circle,say:

By Dragon Power, This Circle is Sealed.

Return to the altar. Point the Sword at Dragon Pentacle and say:

Dragons of Spirit, Highest of Dragons and Most Powerful, Bless This Altar With Your Fire. Let Us Be One In Magick, O Dragons Great and Wise.

Set the Water Chalice on the pentacle. With the wand in power hand, circle the chalice three times clockwise with the wand and say:

Air, Fire, Earth, Bring Power Forth. Water Of Land and Sea, Purified Be.

Hold the Chalice high and say:

Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!

Sprinkle the water lightly around the circled area beginning and ending in the East. Set the dish of salt on the Pentacle. Circle it three times clockwise with the wand and say:

Water, Air, Fire, Hear My Desire. Salt of Earth and Sea, Purified Be.

Sprinkle a few grains of salt to each corner of the altar. Circle the incense burner three times with the wand, say:

Fire of Dragons, Fire of Earth, You Are Purified. Bring Power Forth.

Circle the Incense and Herb's three times clockwise with the wand, say:

Incense Magickal, Incense Bold, Awake The Dragons, As Of Old. I Call You Purified.

Put a small amount of incense onto the burning coals. Lift the burner by the chains and touch it lightly to the Pentacle. Lift it high over the altar, say:

Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!

Then carry it clockwise around the circle, beginning and ending in the East.Return the burner to the Altar.Take up Sword in both hands and kneel before the Altar.Mentally dedicate self to the study of Dragon Magick.Project your interest and love for Dragons as strongly as possible. Continue doing so for several minutes, then rise and point the Sword at the Dragon Pentacle and say with power and confidence:

Behold, All Dragons and Rulers of Dragons, I am (magickal name), a Magician Who Seeks Dragon Magick. With (name of Sword) In My Hand, I Enter the Realm of The Dragons,Not For Physical Battle, But For Knowledge and Power. I Greet You, O Dragons Ancient and Wise, and Await Your Blessing and Guidance.

Continue holding the Sword outstretched until you feel the blessing of the Dragons.It is for this reason that a light sword is best used in ritual.When the flowing power of the Dragons Blessing has lessened, lower the sword. Still holding the sword in Power hand, take up the Dragon Pentacle in the other and go to the East. Point the sword at the Eastern position and hold the Pentacle facing outward. Draw a Invoking Pentagram with the Sword (see illustration), say:

From Fafnir (faf'-near),Ruler Of Dragons Of The South, Comes Cleansing Fire From Dragon Mouth

Note:Feel the power of Fire entering body and when it stops go to the next direction.Repeat the process of Holding up the Dragon Pentacle and drawing a invoking pentagram for each of the directions.
Go to the West, say:

From Naelyan (nail'-yon) Ruler Of Dragons Of The West,Comes The Power Of Water

Draw into the body the power of Water.Go to the North and say:

From Grael (grail), Ruler Of Dragons Of The North, The Power Of Earth Does Now Come Forth

Draw into oneself the power of Earth.When it stops return to the Altar, lay aside the Sword and Dragon Pentacle. Add the appropriate herbal incense to the incense burner according to the ritual you are performing. At this point insert the appropriate chants and workings for the particular spellworking or meditation to be performed. If there is a problem that is unsolveable by physical means or by magic then now is also the time to ask the Dragons for advice on how to solve it. The Dragons are able to give new insight into ways of solving it.Continue to feel their power and direction as their directions are written down.When finished with the spellworking, tap staff three times and chant:

I Thank You, Dragons Old And Wise, Of Earth And Fire, Water, Skies, For Sharing Wisdom Here With Me. As We Will, So Shall It Be

Always approach the Dragons as Equals not as a force to be ordered or conquered.Set the Wine Chalice on the Pentacle. Circle it three times with the wand, say:

Cup Of Power, Cup Of Might, Dragon Magick, Be Here This Night

To the East, say:

Go In Peace, Dragons Of The East, And Return Again In The Ritual Hour

To the South, say:

Go In Peace, Dragons Of The South, And Return Again In The Ritual Hour

To the West, say:

Go In Peace, Dragons Of The West, And Return Again In The Ritual Hour

To the North,say

Go In Peace, Dragons Of The North, And Return Again In the Ritual Hour

Return to the Altar. Raise both arms, say:

Farewell To You, O Dragons Fair, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Together We Make Magick Well By Power Deep and Dragon Spell. In Peace Go Now. Return Once More To Teach Me Magick and Ancient Lore. Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!

Cut the circle with a backward sweep of the Sword across the boundary line. Extinguish the candles. Clear the Altar of all tools except any offerings to the Dragons if unable to pour outside.

During this ritual, you will be going in meditation into a huge cave shaped like the mouth of a dragon.This ritual is best done during a full moon (or at least a bright moon) for a day and night before the ritual is to take place try to remain conscious of dragonic power & perhaps of the dragon totems around you. Just before the ritual take a cleansing bath, with at least some salt and if you like some dragon's blood powder in the water. Dress in your ritual apparel, (this can be full ritual garb or whatever you feel most comfortable & relaxed in). Carry any magickal jewelry to the alter...do not wear it until it has been consecrated.

Supplies: Pentacle disk;dragon pentacle;water chalice with a little fresh water in it;dish of salt wine chalice;black(left) & white (right) alter candles;sword;wand;incense burner;blessing incense;dragons blood & thyme;dragon mirror;gong or bell (many of these supplies can be substituted if you don't have everything required...just make sure you cleanse them first!)

Set the alter facing east, make sure sure you are not disturbed in anyway once you cast the circle.

The Ritual:

Begin the ritual in the east, with your sword in your power hand (the one with which you write). "Draw" your magickal circle on the floor around your ritual area. Move in a clockwise direction around the area. While drawing this circle say:

By dragon power, this circle is sealed!

Return to your altar. Point the sword at the dragon pentacle & say:

Dragons of spirit, highest of dragons & most powerful, bless this alter with your fire. let us be one in magick, o dragons great and wise!

Set the water chalice on the pentacle. With wand in your power hand, circle the chalice 3 times clockwise with the wand and say:

Air, fire, earth, bring power forth. Water of land and sea, purified be.

Sprinkle the water lightly around the circle area, beginning & ending in the east. Set the dish of salt on the pentacle, circle 3 times clockwise with the wand & say:

Water, air, fire, hear my desire. Salt of the earth and sea, purified be.

Sprinkle a few grains of salt at each corner of your alter. Circle the incense burner 3 times with the wand say:

Fire of dragons, fire of earth, you are purified, bring power forth.

Circle the incense & herb's 3 times clockwise with the wand & say:

Then carry it clockwise around the circle, beginning & ending in the east. return to the altar. Kneel before the altar with the sword in both hands. Mentally, dedicate yourself to the study of dragon magick. Protect your interest & love of dragons as strongly as you can. After several moments rise and point the sword at the dragon pentacle and say:

Behold all dragons & rulers of dragons, I am (your magickal name) a magician who seeks the honor of dragon magick. With honesty and strength I seek your knowledge. I greet you oh dragons ancient & wise, & await your blessing & guidance.

Feel the power of the dragons flow through you. Now take the dragon pentacle in your power hand. Point it to the east, facing outward, say:

From Sairys (sair'-iss) , ruler of the eastern dragons fair, come now the powers of air.

Feel the power of air enter your body, after a moment move to the south, hold the pentacle up again. say:

From Fafnir (faf'-near), ruler of dragons of the south, come cleansing fire from the dragons mouth.

Feel the power of fire entering your body, after a moment move to the west, again raising your pentacle, say:

From Naelyan (nail'-yon), ruler of dragons to the west, come power of water, 3 times blessed.

Draw into yourself the power of water, move to the north, pentacle raised & say:

From Grael (grail), ruler of the dragons of the north the power of earth does now come forth.

Draw into yourself the power of the earth. Return to your altar.

Lay down the pentacle. Add more dragons blood & thyme to the burner. Lay ant magickal jewelry on the disk & say:

By dragon power, I call you purified. By dragon fire, I call you blessed. By dragon magick, I call you powerful. Through dragon wisdom, I welcome you.

Slowly move the jewelry through the smoke of the incense, then put it on. Take up the mirror (the eye of the dragon). Hold it before you and gaze deeply into it. picture yourself a confident magician of dragon magick & say:

I am a seeker of knowledge. I come willingly for initiation. Into the mouth of the dragon I go of my own free will. Welcome me, dragons old & wise. Draconis! draconis! draconis!

Lay the mirror down and site before the altar. Lay the sword either across your knees or at your feet during this meditation.

The meditation

Close your eyes and mentally see before you the mouth of a huge cave. It is shaped like the mouth of a dragon. inside, from some deep fire comes a red glow. Long stones hang from the mouth of the cave like teeth. Enter the cave and follow the dim passageway into the earth. After a time with several twists and turns you will enter a large chamber with crystals embedded into the walls. An crystalline alter stands in the center of the chamber, in the center of the altar is a jeweled chalice. You see the dim shadowy forms of dragons around the edges of the chamber. Stand before the altar and announce to the dragons that you have come for initiation.
(be sure to call yourself by your magickal name)
You will feel power given to you by the half seen dragons, Listen for any wisdom they may impart to you. You will hear the deep voice of a dragon telling you to drink of the cup. Visualize yourself lifting the jeweled chalice and drinking deeply all that is in it. You will feel dragon magick coursing through your veins & into your bones thank the dragons and follow the dim corridor returning to the mouth of the cave. Upon reaching the opening of the cave open your eyes, returning to the hear and now. Rise and set the wine chalice on the pentacle & say:

Cup of power, cup of might. Dragon magick be here this night.

Drink the wine, saving some to be poured on the ground as an offering to the dragons.
(If you cannot pour the wine outside, leave it on the altar for about and hour.)

Closing the ritual

Take the sword and go to the east, draw a banishing pentacle with the sword & say:

Go in peace dragons of the east, return again in the ritual hour.

Go to the south, again drawing a banishing pentacle and say:

Go in peace dragons of the south, return again in the ritual hour.

Turn to the west, draw the banishing pentacle & say:

Go in peace dragons of the west, return again in the ritual hour.

Finish by moving to the north and while drawing the banishing pentacle say:

Go in peace dragons of the north, return again in the ritual hour.

Return to the altar, raise both arms and say:

Farewell to you o dragons fair, fire, water, earth, & air. Together we make magick well by power deep and dragon spell. In peace go now. Return once more to teach me magick & ancient lore.
Draconis! draconis! draconis!

Cut the circle with a backward sweep of the sword across the boundary line extinguish the candles, clear the altar of all tools. You have now become an initiate into dragon magick.

You are in the beginnings of the way of the dragon.

This ritual is for exactly what it states calling the Dragon or Dragons to project their presence with such clarity that there is no question of knowing that they are here. A greater reason for calling a Dragon into stronger presence is the stronger the auric vibrations of such a creature within the circle the stronger the ritual and power sent into your motivation for the ritual. When you use the Dragon call and feel the presence of one or more Dragons it is important that they are treated with respect. Take time to get acquainted with them before asking their help. Remember most Dragons are beneficial and helpful, but all Draconic temperaments are extremely sensitive so treat them with the greatest respect.

Supplies:Pentacle disk; Dragon pentacle; water chalice with a little fresh water in it; dish of salt; wine chalice; black (left) and white (right) altar candles; sword; wand; incense burner; appropriate incense; dragon's blood and mugwort; dragon mirror; gong or bell; staff; paper and pen to write down any messages.

Come Draconis! By Your All-consuming Breath,I summon you. Once done summoning the Dragons it will be possible to feel power being sent from all directions by the half-seen Dragons. Listen for any messages the dragons may have. The Dragons' presence can be felt by a sudden temperature change, prickly feeling between the shoulder blades,unusual currents of air, and other phenomena. If the Dragons are pleased with the Magician they often sound a deep vibrating rumble, almost like a Giant Cat's Purr.

The Symbolic attributes of The Dragon which it will be necessary to utilize for the CALLING, are listed as follows:

weapon = SWORD

planet = MARS

element = FIRE

incense = DRAGONS BLOOD

metal = GOLD (IRON may be substituted)

number = 2

symbol = DRAGONS EYE

Now, to CALL THE DRAGON according to the formulae found in the Book of Pherylt, execute the following steps:

1) Choose a secluded clearing outdoors, preferably high on a hill or mountaintop (such high places are sacred to the Dragon)

2) Cast a circle of 12 stones, using your own height as a diameter. Spread iron or gold filings lightly within. (remember if you cant find something from the spell symbolism works well in a pinch to!)

3) With THE SWORD (or symbolic representation thereof), etch the DRAGONS EYE symbol onto the ground within the circle, The site is now ready for use.

4) At DAWN or HIGH NOON or DUSK (The three threshold times sacred to the Dragon0, enter the circle and burn DRAGON'S BLOOD resin upon coals you kindle therein.

5) When ready, stand in the very center of the Dragon's Eye and hold the SWORD with both hands high over head - point downward.

6) THRICE intone, with a voice loud and powerful, the GRAND EVOCATION OF THE DRAGON: "Cum saxum saxorum In duerssum montum oparum da, In aetibulum In quimatum - DRACONIS!"

7) PLUNGE the sword deep into the earth where lies the Dragon eye (AKA putting the sword into the stone)in one swift motion

8) BE SEATED in the center of the EYE, legs crossed around the sword.

9) Close your eyes and await the coming of the Dragon.

( Its presence may become known in numerous ways & states. To BANISH the Dragon-presence, simply remove the sword from the earth. WARNING: do not depart the protective circle, until the "sword has been removed from the stone")

Dragon Magick is no different. In Dragon Magick your familiar can be a number of different Dragons or just one. Sometimes even you may be chosen by the Dragon or Dragons that want to be your Familiar. Also if you are a Practitioner of another Tradition of Magick you may already have a Familiar so by all means the Practice of Dragon Magick does not call for you to get rid of your Familiar but calls for your familiars to work together. For those of you who do not have a Familiar I am going to give you a sample ritual to use for calling a familiar but by no means is this the only one there is. As with everything in my Dragon Book of Magick this is only to be used as a stepping stone. May your Journey be fruitful and full of knowledge.

Note:If a item is missing remember it is possible to use regular household items until other items are acquired.It is important that I believe that these items are extensions of my Magick and I know that my Dragon Companions understand and will help me acquire those items that befit me.If I don't have wine for my ritual I substitute apple cider,grape juice,fruit juice or even soda for this ritual or even any other rituals for that matter.

Now that my ritual area is set up I am ready to cast my circle,before doing so I make sure I have everything that I need for the Ritual I am about to perform because it is highly recommended that once my circle is cast I do not leave it.I also realize and so do my Dragons that there are times that I must leave the Cast Circle .At times like these I create a doorway in my circle so that I can leave it without having to cast the circle again.I create this doorway in the circle by going to the boundary of the circle and with the forefinger of my power hand I start a point on the ground to the left and bring it up a little taller than I am andextend it to the right just so I can step through .I complete the door by bringing my finger down to the right all the way to the ground.I then am able to step through the Doorway .Once through the Doorway I turn around and follow the same procedure I did to open it but this time I close the Door.To reenter the circle I create and open another door and go through it and close it again. While doing this I remember that I am dealing with mischievous creatures in this form of Magick . Dragon Power is totally different and unpredictable .If I am frivolous and half-hearted in my practice of Dragon Magick it can even be dangerous.

I begin by going to the East and with the forefinger of my power hand I draw my magickal circle on the ground by pointing to the ground and picturing a great flame coming from it .With that flame I move clockwise around my ritual area and end by overlapping in the East. While drawing the circle I say:

By Dragon Power ,I Call You Purified

Lift up the burner and carry it around the edge of cast Circle clockwise beginning and ending in the East. Return burner to the altar and slowly pass the Pentacle Disk through the incense smoke and say:

Element of Spirit,By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified

Lay the Pentacle Disk upon altar and place Salt Dish upon it. With forefinger of power hand circle the dish three times clockwise and say:

Out Of The Darkness Of Earth And Sea Comes The Blessed Salt, By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified

Sprinkle a few grains of Salt on all four corners of the altar,this purifies it and can be done at any time during ritual or as a cleansing if someone has messed about with the altar. Once altar is purified pick up Dragon Pentacle,pass it slowly through the incense smoke and say:

Element Of Spirit,By Dragon Power,I Call You Purified

With Dragon Pentacle in Power Hand go to Eastern Quarter,face East and say:

Dragons Of Air Behold Your Symbol and Ally

Move clockwise to the South,hold up the Dragon Pentacle,say:

Dragons Of Fire Behold Your Symbol And Ally

Go to the West,hold up the Dragon Pentacle ,say:

Dragons Of Water Behold Your Symbol And Ally

Finish by going North, hold up the Dragon Pentacle,say:

Dragons of Earth Behold Your Symbol And Ally

Return to the altar,lay aside the Dragon Pentacle and take up the Sword.Touch it briefly to the Pentacle Disk,pass through incense smoke,say:

Sword Of Fire, O name of Sword By Dragon Power,I Call You Purified

Hold Sword a few moments before Dragon Pentacle.Put Sword down pick up the Dagger ,touch it to Pentacle Disk,pass through incense smoke,say:

Dagger Of Fire,O name of Dagger By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified

Hold Dagger a few moments before Dragon Pentacle. For each tool I set it briefly on the Pentacle Disk,pass it through the incense smoke,when finished with the Call, hold tool before Dragon Pentacle before returning it to altar.

This is a candle burning ritual using Dragon Magick.Either tapers or votives can be used for candle-burning rituals. For safety,choose a metal or non-flammable holder and set it in a safe place. To increase the potency time the burning to correct lunar or solar phases depending on the type of ritual you wish to perform. For increasing and obtaining desires, burn during daylight or the waxing moon (from after the New Moon to the Full Moon), with the Full Moon being the strongest. For banishing or cursing, burn during evening hours or the waning moon (from after the Full Moon until the New Moon) , with the New Moon being the strongest.

Casting a circle is not necessary with this ritual.Here are the preparations needed for the ritual of Dragon Fire:

1)Choose appropriate colored stones to attract and draw the Dragons depending on type of ritual you are doing and arrange them about the Altar

2)Carve on the candle exact wishes using Dragon Script or if to difficult use ordinary language.

3)Anoint with appropriate oil. The direction you do so depends on type of ritual, for moving something away anoint from end up to wick. To obtain something anoint from wick down to end.

4)To further strengthen the spell roll the candle in crushed herb's chosen that correspond with spellworking.

5)To further concentrate appropriate power into a candle-burning, make a wide circle of robe-cord worn around the candle on the Altar.

Ritual

With wand, circle candle three times clockwise for increasing magick (three times counterclockwise for decreasing magick) Hold the Dragon Pentacle facing the candle and say:

Draconis! Draconis! Draconis! Hear My Call. Three Times I Hail You. Listen, All! This Candle's Flame is Like Your Fire. Dragons,Bring My Heart's Desire. Dragon Power, Come To Me! Hear My Words. So Mote It Be. Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!

If you have been given a Dragon's name and want to call upon him / her specifically use this name instead of the word "Draconis" at the End of the call in the Dragon Fire ritual. Visualize Dragon power and fire streaming from the Dragon Pentacle and entering the candle. After several moments, light the candle and for the fullest benefits the candle should be allowed to burn completely out after the ritual is ended.

O GREAT DRAGONS!
POWERS OF WATER, EARTH, FIRE, AND SKIES.
I CLEANSE THIS HOUSE.
SO ONLY POSITIVE ENERGY MAY ENTER.

Buy or make a box out of any material you like, decorate it with dragon images and dragon runes. Soon I will have dragon runes on the site. Anyway a recent photo of yourself, 1 quartz crystal, 1 pyramid any size if you can't buy one make a paper one and three small squares of paper. Write out your three wishes, place in the box. Place crystal on top of wishes, then place the top on. Align the box to face true north in a place it won't be disturbed. Place photo on top, put pyramid on top and align to the directions. Hold palms of your hands around your box and say three times with great feeling:

DRAGON WISHING BOX, I TRUST TO YOU THESE WISHES.
MAKE THEM ALL COME TRUE.
MY DESIRES, I BEG YOU FILL.
SO MOTE IT BE, JUST AS I WILL.

The Charm of Making can also be called the Charm of Manifestation into the Physical. Its purpose is the finishing touch to any spellworking and the concentration used in the ritual solidifies the Magician's intentions into embryonic form in the Spiritual realms where all creation begins. Without this solidification and seed planting in the Spiritual, nothing can be manifested in the Physical.

While chanting this, concentrate deeply upon drawing on the Dragon power, feel the power being sent from all sides, listen for any messages from the Dragons and write them down. Place the candle, talisman bag and contents, or whatever you may be spelling, between the mirror and the Dragon Pentacle, making sure the Dragon Pentacle is reflected in the mirror along with the objects. If using a candle, light it and let it burn out completely in that position. If using a Talisman bag or puppet (a small cloth doll, usually stuffed with herb's or cotton soaked in the appropriate oil for the ritual) , leave it on the Altar overnight. Continue with rest of the ritual.
