BOOK II
The Outer Banks of North Carolina. This book is an amazing story of connections. How the puzzle of the "Ribbon of Sand" fits together. A master work on a massive scale somehow condensed down into this small book. If you are interested in the coast of North Carolina you must read this book!
Another highly recomended book...a hard one to put down.

BOOK III
This is a great book. It is full of wild stories of a well known snakehunter and his team. Some of the things they get into are astounding. A great must read for the Reptile/adventure lover!
=================================================================
BOOK IV
This book is a great reference on the "how-to" of snake hunting. It also has some great stories of the authors snake hunting exploits--a great read for anyone who is interested in Reptiles!

BOOK V
Central America--a land of thick Rainforests, active Volcanos, strange animals and plants and a soup of bloody human history. This remarkable book helps to explain many of the mysteries of the Great American Biotic Interchange--the mixing of North and South American plants, animals and people after the formation of the Central American land bridge. From natives to Pirates to Charlie Darwin, Crocodiles, Snakes and Sloths--this is a very well written and researched book. It's a fun read and a great introduction to the unique region known as Central America.

BOOK VI
OK...I'm sorry if the title may offend a bit. However, if you are interested in some grand bathroom reading...from a river raft guides point of view...I highly recomend this amazing piece of S**T! It really is a great book--it will prepare you for what laughable but gross things may (but don't always) pass (HA!) while rafting down any of our nations western rivers. I read it from cover to cover in a day!

Dog On A Chain
By:Charles Simic
So that's how it's going to be,
A cold day smelling of snow.
Step around the bare oak tree
And see how quickly you get
Yourself entangled for good.
Your bad luck was being friendly
With people who love their new couch
More than they love you.
Fred, you poor mutt, the night Is falling.
The children playing
Across the road were cold,
So they ran in.
Watch the smoke
Swirl out of their chimney
In the windy sky as long as you can.
Soon, no one will see you there.
You'll have to bark even if
There's no moon,
bark and growl
To keep yourself company.

Where is your dog right now?

"To a Rattlesnake"
Old Rattler, it is part of Nature's plan
That I should grind you underneath my heel--
The age-old feud between snake and man--
As Adam felt in Eden, I should feel.
And yet, Old Rattlesnake, I honor you;
You are a partner of the pioneer;
You claim your own, as you've a right to do--
This was your Eden--I intruded here.
