Well with assembly line boy bands rushing out and rock orientated pop rushing in, BBMak should be in a pretty good position, so why aren’t they? With record companies dropping the ball these days, we see perfectly good acts get shuffled and lost in the mix. It is a shame really, because this is such a solid performance from the guys. Leaving the lighting side of their music and going for a more serious, somewhat jaded, side of them. The first single is quite the contraire though. “Out Of My Heart” is an upbeat, summer song with heavier guitar solos than we are used to from them. This put them in a good place in the charts, but the real mystery lays behind the fact that we have seen no, and I mean NO, second single from them. But the rest of the CD holds up by itself.

BBMak’s forte has always been catchy hooks will always get them coming back for more. And it has worked; their songs are some of the most infectious. They are crafted to a tee. Work is being done. But the true magic comes when BBMak goes out on a limb. “Sympathy” really tones it down for a heartfelt performance. The guys are both have the voice and skilled guitar playing to just whisk you away. “Get You Through The Night” is also another great track. That would have been a great choice for a second single.

But sometimes the magic well has no more juice to offer some songs. While no one song will bring down the mood of the CD, some play on the borderline. “Out Of Reach” brings nothing new to table. Some more risks would have favored them well. And while the album is great, it’s a brisk affair at less than 40 minutes. Looks like some tracks didn’t need to be cut.

What you will find is the guys transforming into new and better musicians. They best song to date, “Ghost Of You And Me” has yet to be beat, and I see it might in the near future. Some have went from the pop to rock thing but have failed due to lack of instruments (which leads to fans lack of interest) but if BBMak plays their cards right, we’ll see even better music to come.
