There are more single-named R&B girls then there are people in the state of Rhode Island. Brandy, Toya, Aaliyah, Tweet, Olivia, Ashanti, the list goes on. Some are good, others bad, but the one of the best (with the most angelic voice) is Monica. It's refreshing to see someone naturally sing alto. Monica always keeping the vocal ball rolling. Through my favorites such as the old-school R&B feel to "The First Night" to the classy mid-tempo song with full orchestra of "Street Symphony". The album changes itself up enough to keep the whole CD interest. The only downside is songs like "Ring Da Bell" and "Misty Blue" are only carried by Monica's vocals due to weak beats, which can leave you bored if you prefer uptempo dance numbers. The CD will never loose you despite. Here my review of the album's songs:

1. Street Symphony - Beautifully crafted. Full orchestra blended with R&B beats and Monica's great voice make this song a perfect 10. 10/10

2. The Boy Is Mine (Duet with Brandy) - Monica and Brandy sound great together. No one tries to out sing each other, but they both keep solid vocals. 9/10

3. Ring Da Bell - The song is kinda of catchy, but Monica is really trying her best to hold this semi-weak song together. 7/10

4. The First Night - This is the perfect example of how R&B should be done. Has an irrestitble beat. And another reason I like Monica, She's got morals. 10/10

5. Misty Blue - This could have been sung accapella because the background wasn't helping. 6.5/10

6. Angel Of Mine - This is one of the ultimate ballads; a lot of people and their boyfriend/girlfriend have this song for their song. Brings a smile to your face. 10/10

7. Gone Be Fine feat. Outkast - She teams up with Outkast here to bring more hip-hop favor to it. It worked. 8.5/10

8. Inside - A decent song but you'll notice that the song is pretty cliched. 7/10

9. Take Him Back - The best non-single song on the CD. Vibe runs along the lines of "Street Symphony" but spinned so it have a fresh sound to it. 9.5/10

10. Right Here Waiting - Can hold the same title "Take Him Back". So many good songs, only limited number of songs can be singles. Gorgeious song. 9.5/10

11. 'Cross The Room - A poppy dance song. Monica and the background dance don't quite fit with the background but not bad overall. 8/10

12. I Keep It To Myself - Similar to track 8, a little more work could have made this song better. 7.5/10

13. For You I Will - Of all my CDs, this one ended the best way. Monica showcases her divine voice along with beautifully written lyrics. 10/10

Time is no factor for this album. I didn't listen to the album in so long and now that I did again I know why I bought it. Other CDs I have given away because they have a playing life like a gallon of milk. If you like Monica for her uptempo dance songs like "The First Night" you should give Aaliyah's AALIYAH or Toya's TOYA a chance, But if you love her smooth voice on song you can groove to try Brandy's FULL MOON or Faith Evans' FAITHFULLY. My eyes and ears are open for a next album.
