Disclaimer: I do not know Ryan Stiles, Drew Carey or any other cast member personally. Nor do I know Mr. Dan Patterson, the director of WliiA?. I have never met any of them. This story is purely fictional. I have used the characters/settings (i.e. The Whose Line? Studio) without permission, to write a fan fic for your enjoyment. I have never visited the studio so do not know at all what it looks like from the inside or outside. Thank You Very Much. The Fiction Starts Now…
Author’s Note: This fic is incomplete because, I am challenging YOU to finish the fic. What will happen to them??? I need YOU to decide the fate of the characters in the story. "Your mission, if you choose to accept it" is to write a conclusion to this story. There is NO part limit. Feel free to add new characters, etc. My only request is to be recognized as the original author of the fic. (Parts 1-3) J I can’t wait to see if any of you will attempt to finish this.
"Oh my gosh," Laurie said as she and two friends walked into the studio lobby. It was a sunny Thursday afternoon. Laurie was accompanied by Erin and Sandy. It was their very first time attending a Whose Line is it Anyway? Taping, or any taping for that matter.
The three girls had met online at the Ryan Stiles "Giraffe" Message Board and had wanted to attend a taping together for a long time.
"We’re the first one here!!" Erin exclaimed.
"Wasn’t that the plan?" Sandy asked.
"Well, I can’t believe that the door was unlocked this early!" Laurie struggled with the set of props she had brought for the contestants to use that day. When she had purchased the tickets, it was requested that she bring at least one set of props with her.
"Want me to help ya with that?" Erin could see that Laurie was getting mighty frustrated with the pair of "swimming noodles" she was carrying.
"Thanks, Erin." Laurie handed Erin the pink noodle and kept the blue one to herself.
Since the three had never set foot inside a studio, they each slowly examined every nook-and-cranny of the studio lobby. The room was like a lounge. It had a homey but sophisticated look and feel. There were cream colored walls with carpets to match. Black sofas, chairs and glass coffee tables with flower filled vases on top completed the décor.
As each second passed, their smiles grew and grew. It was only 12:45, tapings weren’t scheduled to begin till 3:00 P.M. that day. Suddenly, a voice pulled them out of their amazement, "Good Afternoon, Ladies."
Sandy turned around and found a handsome middle aged man dressed in a suit and tie. He had a pleasant smile on his face.
"Hi, we’re sorry for being so early! It’s just that we weren’t sure if we’d be able to find the studio. I mean, this is our first time visiting L.A."
"You gals certainly are early." The man had a really easygoing nature to him. His voice was soothing to the nervous girls. "That’s quite alright!" He looked at Laurie and Erin who were holding the two noodles and said, "Great, you’ve brought some props. Those are good choices because I don’t think we’ve ever used those on a show."
The three ladies, each about twenty-five years of age, glanced at each other puzzled, yet excited. Who is he? Where are we going? These were only a few of the thoughts racing through their minds. The man began to speak again, "First of all, may I see your tickets?" Sandy, Erin, and Laurie showed their tickets to the man, who then seemed very pleased.
"Great!" He said, as he opened a wooden door painted to match the walls of the studio lobby. A long dark corridor laid ahead of the four. They started down the hall, and soon the man flipped on a light switch.
Erin asked the man, "Sir, if you don’t mind me asking, who are you? Where are we going?"
"Oh, I’m sorry girls. I’m Dan. Dan Patterson." The girls were shocked, and let their faces show it. Dan laughed, "I get that look a lot. People expect me to be some bald old geezer or something. Anyway, I saw you three in the lobby, and I figured you’d like to tour the studio. The inside of the studio."
"Wow, it’s nice of you do that, Mr. Patterson." Sandy said. She had just noticed his thick British accent.
"Call me Dan. Say, what are your names?"
Laurie couldn’t believe she was in the presence of the producer of her favorite show. "Um..I’m Laurie." She paused and shook his hand. "This is Sandy, and this is Erin." The other girls giggled as they both shook his hand.
After what seemed like a lot of walking, the four reached the end. From there, the hall branched off into three sub-corridors and a light colored door labeled "Props." The corridors read "Dressing Rooms, Cast and Crew Only, and Public Entry Permitted." The girls were in awe. The were getting a personal tour of the studio led by Dan Patterson, the Dan Patterson.
Dan broke the silence. "May I have those, Ladies?" Laurie and Cher happily turned over the weird looking noodles. Dan took them in his muscular arms and unlocked the prop room door. "I’ll just b a second." He stepped inside, and a moment later, he returned, arms empty. "Okay, let’s go."
"Go where?" Erin asked.
"You’ll see." Dan said in a teasing voice. Laurie, Erin, and Sandy followed him into the hall labeled, "Cast and Crew Only." To pass the time, Dan asked, "So I assume you’ve never been to a taping of any kind before, huh?" All three girls sadly shook their heads.
"Oh, I see." Dan knocked on an unmarked door. "It’s locked from the outside for safety reasons," He explained.
Suddenly, the door opened and they entered the well-lit room. It was relatively large and almost identical to the studio’s lobby. One major difference between the two rooms was that this one smelled like a mixture of men’s cologne. The girls were silent. From the look on their faces, Dan knew it was that meeting the guys would be a brand new experience for his guests.
Sitting on a black leather sofa was a tall, lanky man. He was eating Italian ice and chatting with a friend. His friend was muscular, tanned and definitely younger.
The other man in the room, the one who had opened the door, was well built, black and had a nice butt as far as the girls were concerned. Before he could speak, Dan said, "Guys, this is Erin, Laurie and Sandy. They’ll be our guinea pigs for the practice run through of some games today."
The girls looked like they could have died happily right there at the feet of their celebrity idols. They were in the presence of Ryan Stiles, Charles "Chip" Esten, and Wayne Brady.
Ryan, Chip and Wayne went over and introduced themselves to the girls who were definitely shell shocked.
At that moment, Greg Proops, Colin Mochrie, and host, Drew Carey strolled into the room carrying on their own conversation…
BOOM!! Everyone gasped as the ground shook below their feet. "Holy Shit!" Greg said aloud. Laurie motioned for Erin and Sandy to come closer to her and so they could huddle together. This was turning out to be a weird afternoon.
When another ripple shattered their confidence, Dan suggested that they go to the basement. Like always, Dan went first to lead the way, and the girls quickly followed. Ryan, the tallest of the group, soon became the smallest as he crouched against Sandy for support.
How will this end? What will happen? Only YOU can decide. Take the challenge!
