Requirements for admission and Dedication to the Temenos

Candidate must be clean and presentable, over the age of 18 (or have the express consent consent of a parent or legal guardian), be of general good health and be of a mature and responsible disposition.

1.  Application must be made in writing.  The application must be a personal essay, no fewer than two 8 1/2" x 11" pages -  single spaced -  in length and must cover the following subjects:

  a)  Why I wish to be/ feel I am a Witch.
  b)  What I know of Witchcraft.
  c)  What my personal experience of Witchcraft is.
  d)  Books I have read and what I thought of them.
  e) THe Hellenic/ Arcadian path

2.  The essay must be submitted to a recognized member of the council or CA.  If it is accepted, an interview will be conducted between the applicant and a minimum of three members of CA- one of whom must be the High Priest (HP), the High Priestess (HPS), the Handmaiden (HM) or Summoner (SR).  The interview will take place no later than one calendar month after the application has been accepted.  If the candidate is younger than 18 years of age, a minimum of one parent or legal guardian must be present at the interview.

3.  The interview will then debate the candidicy in private. If one member wishes to assume the student as their own (for student/teacher rights and responsibilites- see section of the same name), then the candidate is deemed to have been accepted to the Temenos, and their name is officially entered into the membership role.  If the candidate is rejected by the committee members present, but it is felt that another member of CA may wish to accept this student, then a second interview will be held with both the candidate and all members of CA present.  If no member will accept the candidate, then the candidate is deemed to be refused.  Refusal of candidacy is not permanent (except under extraordinary circumstances ); and the candidate may re-apply at any time under the same terms- however no application essay may be used more than once.  Candidates accepted to the Temenos will be notified at the first full moon after their acceptance.

4.  Candidates must immediately, upon their acceptance, set a date for their dedication to be performed by their teacher. The ritual may be open or closed in accordance with both the student's and the teacher's wishes, and is to be performed at the nearest full moon after the candidate's acceptance.  Only once the candidate has beed dedicated may the formal teaching begin.

5.  The Candidate will remain at the Dedicant level for a minimum of one year and a day from the date of their dedication, and must complete the required course of study in that time.  If the Dedicant chooses not to progress to the Neophyte degree level after one year and a day, the Dedicant designation will still apply.  This is the only designation that is revocable ONLY when the Dedicant officially resigns from the Temenos or is expelled.

6.  All members of Coven Arcadia, The Temenos must during the term of his/her term of membership, fulfill a minimum of one of the following:
 
a)  The member must be gainfully employed.
b)  The member must be a full time student in a recognized institution.
c)  If unemployed, the meber must be involved in volunteer work or community service for a minimum of 20 hours per week.  No member of the Temenos may be unemployed for longer than one month without obtaining a volunteer position.

Dispensation of the above will be under unique circumstances and then only at the discretion of the Coven as a whole and as decided by secret and unanimous vote.

7.  The member must remain current at all times with respect to coven dues.This applies even in periods of unemployment and no member may be more than three months in arrears. Current coven cues may be found in appendix B.

8.  Dedicants are considered to be "on probation" for a three month period commencing at the date of dedication.  During this period the relationship may be terminated by by the Dedicantor the teacher for any reason.  This must be done in writing and may be effective on the day it is dated.

9.  The cingulum for the Dedicant is to be made of three cords- each nine feet in length- two green and one deep blue.
