devon—you are my sunshine. my 22 years with you have been a blessing that words cannot describe. you are beautiful in so many ways. kevin—you are my sonshine. what a wonderful addition to our family. what a priviledge it will be for me to sit back and watch your lives unfold together. i’m sure the adventures will be many. i pray that your years together will be blessed by God as you share the journey of life with Him. i love you both and always will.

devon and i lived on the same floor at taylor university for one year. we bemcame friends, and in some ways, devon became a mentor for me. we share a love for art, especially photography. i was given the priveledge of watching her friendship with kevin develop into an enexpected love for him. as i got to know kevin better, i saw (and still see) that God is glorified in their relationahip. i praise the Lord for His faithfulness, provision, and timing for kevin’s and devon’s life together. they are a perfect fit.

we all met while our lives were in times of change due to God’s hand molding us. we came together in ways directed only by our Lord. never forget the ways God Almighty directed you together no matter what season of life you are in. kevin and shmoo, you are both being granted a gift who is very devoted to those they love. i am very thankful that i have been able to and will continue to experience that devotion.

kevin and devon are both good friends of mine. i’ve known them both for quite awhile, and have memories with both of them. as freshmen, kevin was there the first time i went out with my girlfriend, as a double date for her roomate. living so close by, devon and i have commuted to and from school together many times, digging down deep into each other’s past, beliefs and opinions du jour. having our former roomates marry each other has meant we have even more in common. i think devon and kevin are pretty cool. i can only hope they continue to get even cooler as they grow closer together in new and exciting ways. when i was in junior high, there were two certainties in my life: one, i was not going to live through math class and two, i was going to marry kelly roberts. today i have a college diploma and i had to search through a college yearbook just to remember kelly’s name. what does this have to do with kevin and devon? well, i find the observable love between these two as a youthful commodity. especially for a dude like me, i can set my watch to it. it never changes. no matter how many times i lose the keys or pour apple juice in my cereal or find that the five-and-dime of my youth has been converted into a tanning salon, i know that devon still loves kevin and vice versa. these kids are going to do just fine. sometimes i like to take a breath and just enjoy that thought for a second. now if i could just find kelly’s phone number…

i am honoured that kevin asked me to be in this wedding. since we met, his frehman year, we have seen each other change and learn different lessons of life. when friends are intentional about keeping in contact through life’s experiences, they bond in an amazing way. i have been blessed to have him as a friend in the past and i hope that the future is no different. my prayer is that you always love your wife like she needs to be loved, communicate well, and cherish each other.
