Submission Guidelines
The Thing Itself is the literary journal of Our Lady of the Lake University

Students, staff, and faculty may submit for the 2005 issue, Volume 33.
We welcome your creative work in the following genres:


Poetry:
You may submit up to three poems. Include your name, phone number and email address on each page. Also, indicate if you are a student, staff or faculty. If you are a student, let us know what year you are (e.g., freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate).



Short fiction:
For short fiction entries, kindly use Times New Roman 12-point font. Please double-space and use one-inch margins. Be sure to paginate. Include your name, phone number and email address on each page. Also, indicate if you are a student, staff or faculty. If you are a student, let us know what year you are (e.g., freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate).



Short non-fiction:

We accept entries in languages other than English as long as you can also provide us with an English translation of your work.


Please note that if your work is prohibitively long, we may not be able to accept it. If you have questions about this, just write back or call me at ext. 2277.

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of faculty and/or graduate students of English.

Deadline for submissions is  January 30, 2005.
