How you chose the path that led here? What was important to you last week? A year ago? When you were very small? What is worth fighting for? What can you change for the better? What are you proud of? What do you wish for?
This is our spot. Our families have been camping together here for two days and nights, and it is incredible. There are a few other familes scattered in the park, and we have made friends with some of the kids we meet when heading to the shower and the conscession stand for ice cream. The nights around the campfire, while the parents played cards, have been so cool. We muffle our laughter at night, falling asleep without realizing it under thousands of stars that appear each night beyond the evergreens. We saw a deer and a bunch of chipmunks, and my dad swears that he saw the marks of a bear on one of the trees! The little meadows are pretty, the hills covered in pine trees are magnificent, the lake is huge and good for swimming in. Still, this spot by the lake - chasing waterbugs and seeing how many pebbles a stick will hold and still float; Skipping flat rocks and watching a fish leap out of the water to catch a fly; quietly sunburning while the earthy, humid air brushes by us...This spot is ours. Even though we will not be camping for much longer, we know that we will always carry this place within our souls...
