Guate was one of best countries I have ever been to. The market in Chichicastenango is without doubt the best in the world. It is so vibrant, a lot of tourist junk, yes but full of local charm. The church is a real sight. But no fotos inside!!!! Lago Atitlan is beautiful, once you cross the lake to the otherside. Antigua is a colonial just outside Guate. I could live there for a long while. Tikal in the North is not to be missed. If you can, find a guide called Walter. He speaks with passion about Tikal and the Maya World.......!!!!
