I was in Ecuador for about 3 or 4 months, I met some excellent people, who I'm still in touch with now. I also tried to learn Spanish, as in Latin America you need to know Spanish. My Spanish is still naff which is pretty bad, when you consider that my wife's first language is Spanish....Lazy!!!!!!

I did get robbed twice in two days, once was during Semana Santa, it was only 5 dollars but it was the principle. I lost almost everything the next day. Someone broke into my room and stole both my bags. My camera, walkman, address book, dirty underwear. I think it was the maid in the hotel. An Australian took me out got me pissed, and we ended up going to a casino where I gambled 50 dollars and lost. Life!!! Strange thing was it never affected my trip out there........
