I've visited India a few times now. It's difficult to describe the place, as it basically has everything. Desert, jungle, mountains beaches and the plains. I, myself am in love with the mountains. India is a country of extremes. You either love it or hate it. There is nothing in between.

It's amazing how many friends you actually make on one single train journey, of course a train journey is one over 24 hours. Anything less is a day trip..... I would always take food on the trains with me and share it around with my fellow passengers, then once they got their refreshments out, I'd always have some good Indian home cooking.

India for me was a land of dreams. I'd always wanted to go, but only to walk through the back streets of Varanasi. To see the House Boats on Dal Lake, Srinigar. That took a few years before I would head up into Kashmir.

The Freaks who more or less reside in India, are a pin in the arse. A Freak is a person who goes to India and suddenly thinks they are Hindu. Although you have to be born Hindu, you can not just become one. They visit a teacher as they think it'll be well cool. But they are complete wankers. If you are not in with their line of thought you are nothing. I encountered that too many time in India. Fucking annoying.

One of the most relaxing places in India was for me the "Golden Temple" in Amritsar. It is the most holiest of holies for the Sikhs. You just feel complete tranquility as soon as you enter. There is a free place for you to stay, but only for a few days. Food is free, but do not expect much. If your stomach has shrunk then it could be O.K. The Temple Complex is open 24 hours, and the best time to visit is just before the Golden Temple closes for the night, as the Holy Book is taken in to safe keeping for the night. Magical......

Impartial info on Kashmir

I spent a few months up in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Two odd months in Leh and a few weeks in Srinigar. Leh is like "Little Tibet". Ladakh is also known as "The Land of the Moon", as it resembles the moon. Basically because nothing grows there. Living on a House Boat on Dal Lake is excellent. It's wierd to describe actually living on a boat, and not having to leave the boat for nothing. Even the shops are all boats.  There are some places you should not go to, as there is a bit of violence, even in Srinigar.

I was amazed when I went to Calcutta, as i was expecting beggars, trash, basically a shitty city. What I found was a very clean city. Then I found out that the ex PM of Britain visited Calcutta the week before.
