New Committee Positions

Chaplain - Pepper Reese, Advancement Coordinator - Jessica Rose, Membership Coordinator - not needed, Treasurer - Pam Maynard, Merit Badge Counselors - need many parent volunteers

Fundraisers

Rummage Sale - The Scouts voted to hold a rummage sale but no date has been set.

LACSD Toilet Exchange - Bob Turner arranged for volunteers to help LACSD with recycling used toilets for new low-water use toilets on Saturday, Nov. 20 at MPH, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Volunteers: Tim, Jacob and Josh Balog, Dave and Jason Prieskorn, and Dylan and Jane Mannion.

Activities

Singing Christmas Tree Set Up - Need people to help set up scaffolding at the Baptist Church for the Singing Christmas Tree event Sunday, Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m.

Troop Family Holiday Party - Dec. 7, Rountable Pizza in Crestline. The scouts are to bring a wrapped gift to exchange - maximum $10.

San Clemente Campout - Family campout slated for Dec. 10-12. Please call Brad and Cathy Burns for details and to sign up. Fifty people is the maximum.

Board of Review - January 4, 2005 - at Scout meeting.

Court of Honor - January 18, 2005 - at Scout meeting.

Ten Mile Hike - Jan. 22, 2005 - to the Spillway. Brad Burns and Bob Turner in charge. Note - it is possible the boys may encounter naked sunbathers at the Hot Springs.

Mt. Whitney Hike and Campout - TBA - This is a three-day, two-night outing. Eleven boys (likely 14 years or older) that qualify will be allowed plus four adults who will hike to the peak. The plan is that the remainder of the boys who care to participate can stay at base camp and do short hikes in the area and fish in the lake nearby. There is lottery drawing Feb. 15, 2005, for this activity. The motion was carried for the troop to make a deposit of $225 to enter the lottery. Bob Turner, Brad Burns, Marv Shaw and Gary Poarch will hike the peak with the older scouts. Gary Poarch in charge.



Other Information

Scout Campouts - A reminder that the adults who attend scout campouts to help the scouts, do not have to pay for camp fees, only food. This excludes summer camp.

Glen Helen Campout - It appears to have been a successful campout, finances to be worked out with participants.

Summer Camp Fees - The first installment for summer camp, Camp Whitsett, is due Feb. 1, 2005. Camp begins June 26, 2005 for one week.

Camp Cherry Valley - Troop 55 is on the waiting list for Camp Cherry Valley in Catalina for the summer of 2006.

Citizen in the Nation Badge - Please contact Marv Shaw for next meeting date and make-up if scout missed the first meeting at the Glen Helen Campout.

Our Scoutmaster, Paul Klausner, announced that he has been called to active duty for the Army and will be sent overseas on December 6 for approximately 18 months.

Eagle Projects - Short discussion as to number of hours needed to complete project, seems there is no minimum. Scouts need to be approved by Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman before going before the Council.

Troop T-Shirts and Sweatshirts - Tim Balog will contact Dennis Parker, owner of Wide World Sportswear, for information regarding sizing and ordering of t-shirts and sweatshirts for the scouts and anyone else.
