Boy Scout Troop 55                                                     Committee Meeting                                                       May 10, 2005 Meeting called to order at 7:10 pm. Attendance: Tim Balog, Melissa Balog, Gary Stricker, Pepper Reese, Shelley DePry, Rebecca Amato, Dave Dahler, Bob Turner, Vivian Klausner, Brad Burns, Cindy Geers, Kevin Herrick, Peter Marantz, Greg Sanguinetti, Jane Mannion Minutes: Approved by Bob Turner and Tim Balog, and will be filed. Committee Business: T-Shirts - Tim Balog is ordering Troop 55 activity t-shirts for the boys and any adults who are in need. Two shirts for $20 (one light gray, one sage green). Definitely need shirt sizes by May 17 meeting and money if possible, so order can be placed. Camp Whitsett, July 3-9 - Last call for summer camp. There are still about nine vacancies that the troop will be required to pay the deposit fee if not filled ($675 worth of deposit $$$). If you know someone from another troop that may be interested in camping with us, let Shelley DePry know ASAP. A final head count will be sent in June. Summer Camp 2006 - Shelley DePry is scouting out camps for the troop for 2006. She suggested checking out website for Fiesta Island Camp at www.wdicbsa.org - give us your input soon. Annual Troop Planning Meeting/Committee Meeting/Appetizer Bar - June 14, 6:00 pm. Bring your calendars, ideas for upcoming activities and an appetizer to share. All parents are welcome. We will be planning for the entire next year. Activities: Rummage Sale - Saturday, May 28, Baptist Church Gym, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. If at all possible, bring your clean, saleable items to the gym, Friday, May 27, 6:00 - 8:00 pm so they can be sorted. Rebecca Amato is in charge and will need lots of help Friday night and Saturday. The gym will be open Saturday 6:00 am to set up and accept more items. Tell your family, friends and neighbors to donate and most importantly to shop. Also the boys will sell any cookies, sodas and water you can donate. Miramar Air Base, May 14 - is on hold. Gary Stricker will call this week if it is possible to keep the trip on schedule. If not, reschedule date is June 11. Calico Campout, June 3-5 is scheduled. Dave Dahler is in charge. Sign ups, meal planning and details will be set at May 17 meeting. Community Service Project - Forest Fair, June 11 from 8:00 am until approximately mid-afternoon. Ask Brad Burns for details. Qualifying Backpacking Hikes for Mt. Whitney Trip (Aug. 5-7): Boys who are 14 or older and want to backpack up Mt. Whitney in August, must participate in either of the following qualifying trips: San Gorgonio, July 22-24, Gary Poarch in charge; or Vivian Creek June 26, Bob Turner in charge. Bring your backpack to the May 17 meeting with your 10 essentials packed. Packs will be reviewed by the leaders. Camp Whitsett, July 3-9 Meeting adjourned 8:09 pm.
