Rousse

RousseRousseRousse is my home town. It is the largest Bulgarian city on the Danube and the fifth largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas and it is tradition and modernity in one. In the spring the lime scent is all-prevading; the grass area covers a lot of hectares. To the unique lime scent which won Rousse thebname of the city of lime-trees we should add at least the memory of the onetime young wine of fine vintage in October and baked rolls in the winter months which are not that long.
The city of alert and energetic people is a mojor junction on the East-West waterway and of the north-south motorways. In the course of centuries this favourable location has produced a firmly anchored cosmopolitan race eager to embrace and refract new ideas, to observe other people, to speak a babel of tongues, to probe into strange practices, to learn about the ways of other nations and to outshine, yet to keep the unique style and atmosphere of Rousse as the rightful successor of the first Europeanized Bulgarian city.

From earliest times, its advantageous situation on the Danube has made Rousse one of the most important cultural and economic centres of Bulgaria. In Roman times Rousse was the site of a regional harbour of significant importance in the lower Danube. The important role Rousse plays in this area has been maintained and developed over the centuries.See where Rousse is located on the map of Bulgaria.
Rousse has 170 000 inhabitants and it is a big industrial, transport, cultural and scientific center. It is a modern town, but there are also many ancient buildings in good shape in Baroque style there, which are very beautiful. The biggest bridge over the river Danube connects Rousse with the romanian town Giurgevo.See a picture of my town:

The City of Rousse is one of the major traffic junctions in Bulgaria and thus an ideal location for a Free Zone.Situated on theDanube - one of Europe's most important waterways - in the immediate proximity of the port of Rousse, the ROUSSE INTERNATIONAL FREE ZONE benefits from an established network of waterways, railways and roads. It is in the east of Rousse and it covers more than 800 hectars /2.000 acres/ of which 100 hectars /250 acres/ have already been developed.
