The Second Floor ...

The Bedroom ... is where we dream

... and we dream of vacationing in Hawaii, which we start at the Hawaii Visitor's Bureau and the Hawaii State Vacation Planner and then reading the Hawaii Handbook before making plans to visit the Aloha state. Since we can't drive to Hawaii, we'll probably fly on American Airlines. For most frequent flyer and hotel programs, as well as seating plans, check the WebFlyer.

Another thing we dream about is going on a cruise (will be doing this soon on American Hawaii Cruise around the islands), so reading I'd Rather Be Cruising each month gives us all kinds of tips in preparation for the day we finally walk up that gang plank!

WOW! ... we finally did it! Recently returned from our dream vacation to Hawaii. Check out American Hawaii Cruise Dream Vacation where I've written a diary of sorts on our vacation.

We also dream of winning the Texas Lotto (who doesn't). Those of you who live in other States and dream of $$$, refer to Lottery USA.

The Study ... is for reference and educational material

There are many bible-related sources on the Web, listed below are just a few.

We've still got two girls in college; Heather goes to the University of North Texas and Holly goes to Richland Community College, so the Study is for learning. And speaking of colleges, Northeastern University is the alma mater of Ed, Jason & Deborah.

As Ed and I both have our AARP cards, this is also a good place to add reference material for the "More Mature Crowd".

On the end table you'll find:

  1. Christian Classics Ethereal Library contains full texts of classics from St. thomas Acquinas's Summa Theologica to John Wesley's Sermons.
  2. Bible Net has links to several versions of the Bible.
  3. Project Genesis aims to promote Jewish education and has several discussion groups.
On the electronic bookshelf you'll find:
  1. Discovery Channel Online
  2. Purdue's Virtual Reference Desk
  3. A U.S. Telephone Book called Switchboard.
  4. A list of all kinds of Telephone Directories on the Web
  5. National Address Server's Zip Code finder
  6. Documents in American History is a great source; ie, The Declaration of Independence
  7. Bartlett's Familiar Quotations lets you search for quotes.
  8. Roget's Thesaurus will help find that elusive word.
  9. For history and war references check out The Attic.
  10. Basic Dictionary of Amrican Sign Language shows how to sign many terms, alphabet, etc.
  11. The Inner Body site contains both Human Anatomy and Automotive Learning, both of which are fun, interactive and educational views of the human body and automobile.
And in the filing cabinet you'll find:
  1. Social Security Online lets you request info or track legislation.
  2. American Association of Retired Persons is a great place to find all kinds of information.
  3. Seniors Computer Information Project is a clearinghouse for links to areas of interest for senior citizens.
  4. Widow Net is an upbeat site devoted to grief, bereavement, and recovery.
  5. Senior Times a monthly newsletter for Seniors.
  6. Grand Times an online weekly print publication.
Looking for a high school classmate - Classmates Online is a high school alumni search database.

The Computer Room ... is just that

Try Point Now, a program guide to the WWW or try What's New from NCSA Mosaic (updates on Monday, Wednesday, Friday) , A Free Launch which is a cross between a hot list and an index (updates sort of weekly) or Manifest's What's New Too! (updates daily) which allows you to personalize your incoming list. Note: In some cases you may need to use the reload button in the toolbar of your browser to update lists.

Questions on software, perhaps the Microsoft Online Support page can help. If you're starting your own homepage, and want a fast start on the Web, try Homepage Creation which lets users fill in blanks and creates a homepage for them to download. Cyndi Howells can also help with her Home Page Construction Kit. After you've got your page format under control, you're ready to add graphics, so stop by Homepage Headquarters which contains everything you need.

When you're ready to edit graphics, try Optimizing Gifs and when you need an answer to most anything, try the Web Developer's Virtual Library.

Would you like to know who's linked to your page? If you've submitted your page to Alta Vista, try typing your URL below (try it without the page name also):
