Web Browser Info

Microsoft Internet Explorer WAS king, but Fire Fox and Netscape are better in some instances. While it's nice to have everything in one intigrated package, the viruses find it helpfull also. Software from other vendors makes it that much more difficult for a virus writer to sit down and boot out one instance of a virus that will knock all systems out. Linux and Apple users have less worries.

MOST OF THE REST OF THIS PAGE IS OUT OF DATE.

If you do not have Win 95 or 98 you MUST HAVE the latest version of NETSCAPE and it is now Free!! If you use windows 3.1 netscape is a much better choice as again the development of Microsoft IE has stopped, last verson is poor compaired to Netscape Communicator

I happen to like the Mosaic Browser because it is not in the browser wars. NCSA has finished develpment of this browser in 1987 but it still does an excellent job, the AUTO SURF function is great for people who don't like to sit in front of the tube waiting for the site to download. Set it on the site you want to explore, go do your morning thing and when you come back just read the pages. This is a must for people with modems slower than 28.8. The SMART BOOKMARKS update themselves to content changes at your request, you don't have to plow through pages of your favorite site to find nothing has changed. Speed is very acceptable. Best of all there are Mac, Unix, Linux and Windows Versons
