The North Shore Twirlers,
our club out in the country has developed into a great family fun dance. We dance every Monday evening
in the Waialua Community Center in historic old Hale'iwa town on the
North Shore of Oahu across the island from Honolulu. We dance from
7:15 pm til about 9:00 pm. Its easy to get to us on the city bus
or, if you will call, we will assist with transortation. We often
have two squares of new students and angels. The students are all
enthusiastic and want to bring their friends out, also. I am lucky to have folks like the North Shore bunch who
like to whoop and holler, stomp and have a real country good time.
We continue to maintain our committment to teach a complete list
in standard Mainstream. With people like our North Shore folks to teach and call for,
we should soon have a hall full enthusiastic dancers, ranging in
ages from 7 on up. I can't wait to fill the hall.

DANCE FREE OUT IN THE COUNTRY
We hope when
you visit the Islands that you will join us out in the
country. There's never a charge to dance with us in Hale'iwa.
All dance and lesson activities are always
FREE at the North Shore Twirlers. To find us from
Honolulu and Waikiki, drive West on H-1 and North on H-2.
Take off-ramp through Wahiawa, and keep goin' North across the
pineapple fields and left at the light to Haleiwa on the North
Shore of Oahu. Heading into town after the left turn at the
light, bear to the right about 1/2 mile.
We are located in the Waialua Community Center on the right side
just across from the Post Office and Pizza Hut. For information

We continue to dance and have great fun out in the country. The North Shore Twirlers is a family fun dance and we admit anyone at any time. We dance 3 or 4 dance tips with everyone dancing the first part. We have all club members dancing as angels for our beginners. Then we ask them to sit down and the MS dancers are worked out. This format has allowed beginners to participate as club members from the get go. No one is separated in estranged classes for months trying to qualify to dance with the Club. We all dance together and it seems to work. Ours is a Caller run club and the focus is on family fun. We have had several three generation familys dancing with us. We have young dancers, our best dancer is nine years old. And, we have young'uns who don't dance but just play while we dance.
Patty and I have decided not to attend any Nationa Convention this year. We visited the McNabs in Vancouver last year and danced at local dances in Canada. This year we are planning to visit Buenos Aires in Argentina for the International Rotary Convention. Then we will visit Beliz with the International Yachting Fellwoship of rotarians. We will check out the square dancing in that part of the world while we are there. Hope you can make it to the Canadian Nationals in Vancouver or the USA National in Baltimore. 2000 CONVENTION AFTERPARTY
SQUARE DANCE CRUISE
On Sunday the 30th after the State Convention in January, be sure to plan to
attend the AfterParty hosted by the North Shore Twirlers Square
Dance Club to be held on the "Star of
Honolulu" on Sunday morning after the Convention. She is
a 232 foot, four story cruise vessel. We will have the entire
air condtioned main deck for dancing and vendors. Continental
breakfast and buffet lunch will be served on the second deck,
included as a part of the delux WHALE watching cruise package. Last year we saw tons of whales and dolphins. Our dancers will have
full access to the entire vessel as we cruise to Diamond Head and then along the shore
past Waikiki and into Pearl Harbor to the Arizona Memorial where
the Captain will perform a traditional lei ceremony. Air Conditioned
bus service will be available to and from the Waikiki hotels.
The square dancing will be continuous for 4 hours from
8:00 am and will feature many local callers as well as visiting
callers from the mainland. Wh have five mikes set up ans sometimea, all five are used at once. There will be fun badge dances and activities and lots of fellowship
with fellow dancers as well as other
folks along for the cruise. The donation will be $38.50 per person
and half for kids under 12. (That's less than the normal
cost for the cruise alone). Come on over to our place for some
real summer fun in the winter...
