Arrived in 1977, along with hubby, two kids and nine suitcases. the first two years were hard and we missed everyone at home so much.it was also hard for the kids to settle in school. we go "home" often and still try to maintain our scottish heritage here. We still eat mince and tatties and I make morning rolls for breakfast. I still make trifle, sausage rolls, scones and all the "slimming" stuff.

I visited your page after you left a note in my guestbook. The closest I've been to England is my husband - he's from irish stock, but born in the USA. I liked the photos. Regarding unkillable plants; try the houseplant called mother-in-law's tongue. You can't kill it no matter what you do.

Great site!! I love the fun section, and I can certainly relate to some of the stuff in there. Any chance fo some info about tax laws, or a page for advertising products that will be useful to expats e.g insurance etc Thanks

Comments: I need to get in touch with any British ex-pats in Spain who wish to watch British TV programmes over the Astra satellite. I have a fully functioning Sky TV card with access to all channels (classic British TV on UK Gold and Granada Plus, live footy on Sky Sports), which I am willing to exchange for a functioning Syster decoder subscription key for the Spanish channels on Astra - Sportmania, Documania, Cinemania, Cine Classics and Minimax. I'm sure there are plenty of ex-pats out there who would be willing to do a swap, and are desperate to watch regular, British programming on these channels, so how could I arrange this ASAP? Thanks, Matthew Gilbert in Manchester dmgilbert@enterprise.net
