General
Flores island is known by various names as
Nusa Nipa for its serpent-like shape, and Nusa Lale for it's
fertile land. There are some vulcanoes : Mt. Anak Ranaka in
Manggarai, Mt. Inerie and Ebulobo in Ngada, Mt. IA in Ende, Mt.
Egon in Sikka, Lewo Tobi, Ile Ape and Ile Boleng in East Flores.
Flores is surrounded by 101 small islands,
populated by 1,497,353 people most of them are farmers and
traditional fishermen. They are divided into several ethnic
groups with their own local language and traditions.
