A holiday is different from a regular day, so it is important to check your existing insurances what they cover. Most insurances do not cover matters happened outside your own country. Which ones should I check you ask?
Well, first look at the policy of your health-insurance, car insurance (Green Card), membership of your automobile association, and maybe other insurances I could not think of.
You can effect a travel insurance to cover the gaps of your existing insurances. For example, your health-insurance might not cover the transportation of the sick person from abroad or the usage of health services in that country. Ask your health-insurance company or insurance agent what for more information.
You will need your Green Card for your vehicle. It can be asked at border crossings, traffic controls and when you are involved in a road accident. If your Green Card is not valid for a visiting or transiting country, then you have to effect a short-trerm third party insurance in that country for your vehicle.
A membership to an automobile association brings many benefits along. With an international letter of credit from your own automobile association you can get on a car breakdown the same service from a sister automobile association. This letter issued by members of the AIT offers you financial credit and different kinds of help.
