Formalities on entering the Turkish-Bulgarian border crossing Kapikule, they can be the same at other border crossings. Select a lane (or go first duty free shopping), the first boot on the lane is for passport control, ignore the second booth and park your car with the others at the end of the lane. The chaotic part starts here. The main driver has to take his or her passport, driving licence and car registration certificate. Then he or she has to find a booth where you can get the entry-exit form (called Triptik) to bring the vehicle into Turkey for a maximum of 6 months in one year. For longer stays, it is necessary to apply to either the Ministry of Finance and Customs or the Turkish Touring and Automobile Club (TTOK).After that he or she has to find the main booth to get a print of the form. After a while a customs officer will check your luggage in your vehicle and stamp the form. Now you can drive to the last booth for the last check of the papers and here they also ask for the number of persons in the vehicle.
An International Driving Permit is required for visits of over three months. A Green Card, endorsed for Turkish territory in both Europe and Asia, and a Turkish third-party insurance (obtainable from insurance agencies at border crossings) are also required.
