Comments: I've heard some of the songs by the original artists, and after hearing the samples here, I had to go buy the album. The music is skillfully arranged and played, and I get a kick out of hearing Pat's unique take on these songs. This album has really shaken his followers to the core, but it seems as if few of them have heard the album before rejecting it and him. All they see is the outside image.

Comments: Well one may ask why good Christian folks are watching the music awards or even have T.V.s in the first place but thats another letter. It is know wonder at all that most "not Christians" RUN for the hills when we "saved" folks come a callen. Jesus Lived, Died, Was put in a cave and 3 days later came out. That Fact and That Fact alone changed the lives of all who call on His name. We (I definetly include myself in this catagory) spend to much time looking at knatts and spects and swallow camels and wear logs in our eyes while throughing stones at folks. There is a standard that must be held high. Just think of it, the church which is the Body of Christ on Earth really lives the love of God. 4o,ooo kids starved todeath today, 500,000 people disapeared from the earth in Africa because of hate and little was said in the church community. We will beat the dead horse and kick the fallen brother. We do need to stand against immorality such immorality such as the rape of the Earth and its people, the homeless, and the downcast. We need to focus on the truth of scripture and those who do not know Christ. In the eternal perspective I think it small what Pat Boone sings or doesnt sing. God will deal with the works of others. It is sad to see that the followers of the Lord are calling for fire from heaven. I thank God that He is bigger that our smallness. the words repent for the kingdom of God is at hand still ring true today. They will know that you are my disciples by our love for one another. Comments: I didn't even read all the comments before I commented a few minutes ago, so let me just mention that no one seems to have made any connection between Pat & Alice Cooper walking out to present this award together !!! Do you all know that Alice Cooper has turned his life around and is a Christian and has new crossover music and comic books out ?!? He has been seen at Moody Bible Institute also, attending a Bible Conference, with his pastor ! Maybe this was JUST the opportunity that he wanted, to show his former "peers" that he isn't a "goody-goody-2 shoes", but that as a Christian, he can still be "in the world" but not "of the world" ??? WHO KNOWS what seeds might have been planted by those 2 Christian men being at that award show, rubbing shoulders with all the artists attending and backstage... WHO else is going to reach those people ? I'll bet that there aren't a whole lot of secular musicians, attending any church on Sunday morning... when are most gigs ? if they're not on the road every day & night, then they're for sure working weekends, late into the night & morning hours... Sunday morning, I'm sure they're sleeping... Maybe part of Pat's reasoning behind recording this album, was to be able to come into contact with these bands ? WE WILL NEVER KNOW ! I sure hope he has alot of wise, intellegent, Christian friends to lift him up right now... Heaven's Metal Magazine (HM) should do an interview with Pat, if they haven't already planned to. Anyways, I'm a Concert Promoter, and I just get infuriated with Christians not using their God-given brains. Angela PS. Comments: I think this whole Pat Boone "metal" album thing is funny. I was watching the American Music Awards when he came walking out with Alice Cooper to present the Metal Award. It's too bad some people can't lighten up and leave Pat alone. I can't believe that the Christian TV network (can't remember the name of it) is (or has) cancelled Pat's TV show ? and doesn't want him hosting another special that he's hosted for years ? I just read this in my local newspaper... all this negativity because 60 people complained ??? Hard to believe. Angela

Comments: Personally, I loathe TBN for their hypocrisy and am glad Pat is no longer in their employ. I found it very funny to see him with Alice Cooper on the awards show. I am a Heavy Metal Fan (but I do listen to the music of the 40's-70's as well) but pat might "convert" me to his other stuff as well. P.S. I do not feel the same way about all Christians as I do about TBN. (I'm 'unitarian' and believe that all paths lead to God/Goddess. GO PAT!

Comments: Well. I am a Christian DJ and too, too often I am being criticized for spinning Christian techno/rave/euro/pop. Of course the problem is not in the lyrics, but the music. You see, if the music is from the devil, the lyrics mean nothing. I really do not understand this. About Pat, Rock ain't from the devil. It all comes down to his relationship with Jesus. About the secular music he is singing, then I can sort of critizice it. Yet, who am I to judge?

Comments: Why is everybody knockin' on Pat. I am a seventeen year old high school student, and I love the new Pat Boone album. He has taken songs that are primarily are looked at as "tastless" songs with no feeling or meaning, and made them appealing to the masses. The orchestrations are beautiful, and the arrangments are pure genius. This is the most original album to come out in years, and I love it. As a musical artist, I am always trying to find new ways to present tries-and-true material so that people will listen and take note. I feel that Pat has dona an amazing new thing, and it is not a joke. This is a serious band, with serious players, just as real as any sessions band, and to call him immoral or an antichrist is just going too far. He isn't advocating anything noted in the songs lyrics, he is exploring his musical avenues and making great music in the process. Lighten up TBN!!! Jeffrey Bisti

Comments: I must admit that I was confused when Pat showed up at the awards looking like he was in drag. I listened to a few comments made on secular stations that made fun of Pat's attempt to "cross over". I guess it came to a clear focus for me after listening to Cal Thomas' commentary. Cal's comments said what I expected-that Pat was braking down the facad. I think as Christians we need to be focus more on the lost than our own sense of legalism. I've taught youth and college for 15 years, and I know if you can't relate to your target market then you won't have a change at getting them to listening to the Gospel message. Bravo Pat, let's tear down some more walls and let the world know we are normal people who serve an awesome God who is far bigger than our pettiness. Regards, Greg

Comments: I'm a really big Metal fan. I've been listening to it for years. If this album had come out a few years ago I'd have hated it but my drum instructor had introduced me to the sounds of "Big Band" from people like Buddy Rich and Sinatra. I must say that Metal and Big Band make a rather different mix but it's cool nonetheless. Also, I'd just like to say that Heavy Metal has recieved a bad name over the years for being so called "Satanic", well some is but that only accounts for a small portion of it. All of the songs on the "Metal Mood" album are about personal or social problems. For example, if you don't already know, Enter Sandman is about nightmares (how is that satanic?). Most of the heavy metal that I've heard, like Megadeth and the older Metallica stuff, talk (or yell) about how corrupt politics is or how stupid war is. If you don't like the music then just read the lyrics (since it's hard to hear the words) they may supprise you, they usually have some meaning to them unlike Country music which only deals with Love or Alchohol consumption down on the farm. Well, that's about all I want to say, keep on rockin' Mr. Boone.

Comments: I have the CD and I love it. I think it was great for Pat to do the Heavy Metal Songs. One thing that isn't mentioned is *how* the CD sounds. The arrangements are great and the brass and wind instruments really add to the classic songs. I will admit that it's great to finally *understand* what Ozzy was slurring in "Crazy Train"!!

Comments: I recently heard some of Pat Boone's new album, and being familliar with the original versions, I got quite a laugh out of it. To turn heavy metal into a jazz, big-band piece is quite an accomplishment. I think that some of those who call themselves "Christians" should refrain from passing judgement on this man and let him do what he does with life. This album should not reflect on Boone's capability of hosting a gospel music show, and he should not have to explain his actions because they are none of anyone's business. You all know that if he had released this same album and these songs were not heavy metal covers, nothing would be said.

Comments: In 1979, me and a friend always joked about how funny it would be to see Pat Boone on "The Tonight Show" singing "Shattered" by the Rolling Stones. Well, you can just imagine how hard we were laughing the day (January 28, 1997) we heard he had released an album of heavy metal. Seriously, I did get to listen to it and being a musician I could appreciate just how good the arrangements and the musicianship were. However, Pat Boone's obvious sense of humor is really what makes this so cool. He's about sixty years old and he looked better in the leather and tattoos than people half his age! And, though I'm not a very religious person, I do not believe for a minute that God is judging him for this. Pat: I'm sure God has a sense of humor and is chuckling right now. As for TBN and it's audience, they have lost credibility and their actions lend credence to the belief that the "religious right" are nothing but narrow-minded zealots. If heaven is full of people like those strident TBN viewers, then God help us all. God bless you, Pat.

Comments: I contacted this homepage because I'm not sure I know how I feel about the new image that Mr. Boone is portraying. The outside cover does not make the man and I believe our generation (I'm 51) sometimes characterizes people to such an extent that we alienate them. I guess I want to know if Mr. Boone still has a strong faith and if he truly is interested in reaching kids for Christ's sake or if this is just a ploy to make money and attract attention. This circumstance has certainly resulted in attention and will certaily result in monetary gain and that's alright if it is the labor of a well intentioned Christian. Thanks for letting me comment.

Comments: It is very sad that we judge so rapidly those that have given their lives to the Lord. I don't agree with what Pat has chosen to do, but who am I to judge his choice of reaching out. It has been evident in my life that once I have reached a certain step of faith, not to turn back because the fall is farther. That is why I don't agree with Pat, but I am not God. If the Lord wants Pat to do this to reach a certain bunch of future heaven bound souls then go for it Pat. If not then Pat don't. Comments: I saw Pat's CD in a CD shop. The proprietor regularly listens to metal and grunge. I asked about the CD and he smiled and played me some. He liked it, and so did I. Pat shook up Hollywood by not compromising his faith, and lost work because of it. Now he refuses to compromise again and side with hypocrits, and it is "costing" him again. Comments: What Pat has done is break peoples worldly traditions and ideas of who they think Pat Boone should be. Traditions that annul the word of God. God dosn't recognize how you dress or how or what you sing. He goes straight to the heart. Dear Paul and Jan,

I read with great interest the article in USAToday on Friday, February 21, 1997 regarding Pat Boone. I am very saddened by your decision to pull his program from the air. Let me explain my sadness. I am not saddened by the loss of Pat's program, because I do not personally care for the show. However, I do appreciate Pat Boone and his willingness to be a pioneer witness in the Hollywood community for almost 30 years. My sadness revolves around the message that your actions will send to the world regarding Christians. The world regards us as close-minded, judgmental people who will not accept anyone who will not conform to the religious mainstream. Unfortunately, I feel your actions have reinforced this impression and done another disservice to the Body of Christ. I believe that your actions may appease the rigid souls of the religious community who call themselves the people of God. But I believe in the long run, your actions will actually prove to turn people away from Christ and reinforce the sickening religiosity that brought about this decision.

I do not believe that any man or woman on this planet is capable of judging the heart and motives of another individual. If Pat is being judged by a leather vest and temporary tattoos, this is very sad. Personally, I find other TBN celebrities to be much more offensive than Pat Boone. Jeff Fenholt is given a fairly predominant place in your programming and I find his physical appearance and lack of grooming to be offensive.

So you know more about me, I am the fourth generation of Pentecostals and the fourth generation of Pentecostal preachers. I am 38 years old and have seen my share in my short number of years. I pastor a small pioneer church in the city of Rochester, New York. The message that I preach weekly from my pulpit is that we do not have the right to judge other individuals under any circumstances. Our message revolves around accepting all persons in any circumstance of life. We seek to love and embrace those who are shunned by religion, offer them the chance to encounter the presence of God through praise and worship and the teaching of God's Word. If we don't accept people as they are, they will never experience God's presence and will never be changed. Do I believe everyone will change over night? NO! But I do believe that if we extend ourselves in mercy and compassion in the same way God extends his mercy to us, we will see more souls saved.

Have you spoken to Pat Boone personally regarding your concerns? Are you going to make an official public statement about your position? Have you made your decision based on pressure placed on you by other individuals? Have financial matters affected your decision?

Paul, I believe you owe a public apology to Pat Boone, the Body of Christ and the World, for your actions. I do not believe Pat Boone has done anything that can be condemned by the Scripture. I believe more souls can be won into the Kingdom of God by your repentance.
