Khao Soy Dao Wildlife Protection Park

Khao Soy Dao Wildlife Protection Park is located in Khao Soy Dao Suburb with a totol area of 116,409.4 Acres, 70 Kilometers away from Chantaburi.
Originally, the park was called Khao Soy Dao Forest, meaning a mountain to catch the stars, because of its tremendous height of 1,675 meters above sea level. At night time, the picturesque mountains allow one to watch so clearly the hundreds of stars, and seem to reach high into the sky for one to easily catch them.
Many big and small mountains joined together to make up Khao Soy Dao Forest. Khao Sip Ha Chun, Khao Tha Pong, Khao Ngoo and Khao Sai Koa are the mothers of many beautiful waterfalls and rivers, and breathtaking mountainsides.
1965 the Department of Forestry started the animal research and conservation in Khao Soy Dao Forest. The Department found that the wealth of wild animals and the natural habitat at the forest are excellent for a wildlife protection park.
Consequently, the Department of Forestry founded the Sai Kao Nature and Animal Research Center in 1990, in Sai Kao, part of the Khao Soy Dao Animal Protection Park. In 1996, the name of the sector changed to Sai Koa Animal Conservation Support and Development Center. The main objective is to ensure that the exotic beauty of Khao Soy Dao Forest is continually protected.
While a lot of emphasis have been put on conservative eco-tourism, many misunderstand that it applies solely for the forest and the mountains. In fact, all kinds of tourism can and need to involve environmental awareness. It would be joyous to see more responsible tourists who travel with conservation in mind.
