Information About The
Park

LOCATION: Hellyer Park Located off
hwy 101 on Hellyer Ave. Dog run is near Shadowbluff picnic area. You have
to exit to Hellyer Ave west, go straight ahead after STOP sign to the park
entrance. There is $4 car entrance fee. Follow the road approximately 0.5
mile and dog area will be right in front of you.
Here is a little tip: to avoid paying
fee and if you are not too lazy to walk 0.5 mile with your dog you can
exit on Yerba Buena Ave west from hwy 101, turn left on McLaughlin Ave
and follow this road into residential area. Road will make a loop and become
Tuers Rd. You can park along the street on Tuers Rd (just watch the signs).
There is an entrance to the park and there is a short trail to the dog
park. You will be able to see it from the street.
HOURS: They are open all week except Wednesdays. They usually ask everybody to go approximately 0.5 hour before sunset.
BEST TIME TO GO: If you like to
see a lot of dogs there, best time to go is around 3-4 pm on weekends during
winter time or 5-6 pm on weekends during summer time. There are dogs there
in the morning but not as much as in the evening.
SOME SUGGESTIONS: In the winter
time bring warm clothes with you, even gloves. It's getting very cold in
the park, much colder then in the rest of the city. DO
NOT bring nice dog toys with you because
majority of the dog fights are happened over the toy. Be careful about
bringing dog treats to the park, some dogs there are very food motivated
and may start fight over the treat. So, use your common sense when using
this dog enclosure and you will love to come back again and again.
